DAVE'S
DIARY - 10 JANUARY 2004 - TAMWORTH PREVIEW
ADAM
AND SARA FLY VICTORIAN FLAG IN TAMWORTH
|
Sara
Storer and Adam Harvey head the Victorian born cavalry likely to dominate
the 32nd Australian Country Music Awards in Tamworth in 2004.
Sara, 30 and born at Wemen near Robinvale in the Sunraysia, made the
finals of seven Gold Guitars with her second ABC Music album Beautiful
Circle.
|
Her duet
partner and former Mallee boy - Quambatook born John Williamson - is also
a finalist in four sections of the awards staged in Tamworth on Saturday
January 24.
And Geelong born, latter day NSW Central Coast resident Adam Harvey, 28,
is finalist in three categories for his fifth album Cowboy Dreams.
They are male vocalist, album and heritage song of the year.
|
Harvey
returns to his home state for concerts with Canadian chanteuse Terri
Clark after the awards.
Clark, 36, is touring to promote her fifth album Pain To Kill (Mercury-Universal)
after a previous tour was cancelled at the 11th hour.
They perform at Costa Hall, Geelong, on Friday January 30 and Horsham
Town Hall on Saturday January 31. |
Harvey is
also touring nationally with Canadian singer-songwriter Jason McCoy who
is touring to promote fourth album Sins, Lies And Angels (Open
Road-Universal.)
McCoy debuted at the Corner Hotel, Richmond, in January, 2002, in a singer-songwriter
package show with fellow Canadian Fred Eaglesmith, Kim Richey, Jim Lauderdale
and Van Diemens Land refugee Audrey Auld.
Tour promoters, wary of the paucity of airplay in Victoria for country
music, have double billed the Canadians with Harvey to maximise his huge
national popularity.
Despite that McCoy, 33, and holding, is not venturing south of the Murray-Dixon
line.
Victorian fans will need to travel north on Highway 31 to catch McCoy
on February 12 at Albury Commercial Club.
