WILL DAY AND HANNAH DASHER HEADLINE NU COUNTRY TV

Georgian guitar slinger Hannah Dasher and Brisbane singer-songwriter Will Day headline Nu Country TV on Saturday December 18 at 9.30 pm.

Texans Hayes Carll and Taylor Rae return to Behind Bars on the show repeated Wednesday at 11.30 pm.

Gold Coast starlet Lily Grace and fellow Queenslander Col Finley boomerang to the program filmed and edited by our multi-talented lockdown producer Laith Graham.

The show ends with a Christmas yodel by Mary Schneider, now 89 and mother of prolific award winning singer-songwriter Melinda.

WILL DAY COUNTRIFIED

Queensland singer-songwriter Will Day proved why he was born to be a rocking country singer.

Will, now 32, grew up in Goondiwindi and then moved to Brisbane where he met his wife Sky at University.

Day returned as a lecturer to the JMC academy.

Will and Sky wrote his debut album title track Countrified that he showcases live this week.

HANNAH DASHER BOOTS FOOTWEAR

Georgian guitar slinger and Stand By Your Pan Tik-Tok host Hanna Dasher has some footwear hints in her return.

Hannah, now 35, advises that if she was in the beau's shoes in her new video she would return pronto to his beatific belle.

She sings about understanding an estranged lover's distance.

Dasher turns the cliché of putting oneself in someone else's shoes “If I was in your shoes, baby, I'd come running back to me” - a desire for reconciliation.

Shoes is on Hannah's Half Record EP she released after her Tik-Tok show landed her Fender guitar and record deals and a planned cookbook.

HAYES CARLL MEMORIES IN BEHIND BARS

Texan singer-songwriter Hayes Carll returns to Behind Bars nine years after his 2012 Northcote Social Club concert with Hunter Valley belle Kirsty Lee Akers.

The Houston hombre, now 46, illustrates the sad saga of a man with memory loss in an evocative video that traces the subject's life in pictures.

Carll's subject is comforted by his faithful wife who ignites his memory with scrap books, crossword puzzles and perfume.

Help Me Remember is on Hayes seventh album You Got It All that was released on October 29 and is raising funds for Alzeimers research.

Carll has written and performed with singing spouse Allison Moorer who toured here as one of one of fellow Texan Steve Earle's six ex-wives.

Hayes also appeared on Nu Country with social comment video Times Like These and KMAG YOYO - title track of his fourth album.

Carll once sold vacuum cleaners and was the inspiration for singer Beau Hutton played by Garrett Hedlund in Tim McGraw-Gwyneth Paltrow movie Country Strong.

He performed two Carll songs - Hard Out Here and Hide Me Babe - and Hayes sang Take Me Away .

Carll lives in Austin with Moorer and son Elijah - now 14 - who starred in his video for The Magic Kid from his fifth album Lovers And Leavers .

TAYLOR RAE HOME ON THE ROAD

Santa Cruz born Taylor Rae hit the road when she moved to Austin in Texas.

Taylor , 27, also headed from open roads to stage in her new video that was filmed in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Home on The Road is on her debut album Mad Twenties that was released in October.

Taylor previously appeared on Nu Country with her Fixer Upper video filmed at the 1823 Nunnelly farm in Centerville , Tennessee , and Hickman County courthouse on the square.

LILY GRACE 16 WISHES

Gold Coast schoolgirl Lily Grace returns to Nu Country with a joyous video.

Lily, just 15, led a posse of pals to the beach and bush where her reward was a birthday cake with 16 candles in her video for 16 Wishes.

It follows her duet with prolific Golden Guitarist James Blundell on their Annie June video.

They vividly depicted the fate of the victim in a song they wrote about a broken home.

Lily Grace began singing at 10 and impressed with her guitar-playing prowess and memorable vocals.

She was gifted her first guitar at 11 and self-funded her equipment by busking at local markets and cafes, restaurants and festivals.

Lily recently opened for Amber Lawrence and Catherine Britt's Love and Lies tour across Queensland and a Tania Kernaghan concert.

COL FINLEY RISES ABOVE THE BLUE

Fellow Queenslander Col Finley performs his video for Above The Blue is on his 25 th anniversary sixth album The Collective in 2018

Finley wrote the song about his battles with depression.

It was originally on 2014 fund raising album Beyond Blue that raised $36,000 for the foundation.

But the current climate of lockdowns, restriction and loss of work put Col and the nation back on the same dark path he was six years ago.

“If I was feeling this emotion what would the rest of the nation be feeling,” Col revealed as he re-released the song and video.

Col shared stages with Tim McGraw, Dixie Chicks , Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Zac Brown on major festivals including Tamworth , CMC Rocks, Big Red Bash , Gympie Muster and Groundwater.

MARY SCHNEIDER YODELS JINGLE BELLS

Mary Schneider, 89 and mother of Melinda, proves time hasn't curbed her spirit as she closes our show with Yodelling Jingle Bells.

Mary OAM, who is a year older than Willie, is also on the road again with new album Yodelling The Big Bands .

The Waylon, Highwaymen , Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.

She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.

Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.

Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 78, and son Shooter, 42.
