TROY CELEBRATES GREAT AUSTRALIAN DAY

Former Nu Country TV host Troy Cassar-Daley takes us on his joyous journey in Another Australian Day from his vibrant 12th album Freedom Ride.

The singer-songwriter adorns his musical travelogue from hometown Grafton to Barrington Tops, Uluru, Gympie, Tamworth, Broome, Yackandandah and many tiny towns and cities with bush icons to illustrate the vast country and the broad demographic he entertains on his travels.

They include Walgett - a salient signpost to the source of his album title track that celebrated the 50th anniversary of Charles Perkins historic Freedom Ride.

It's a sibling of sorts of Take A Walk In My Country - written with Col Buchanan and filmed by director Duncan Toombs.

“ Duncan filmed that at Cave's Beach in Newcastle ,” Troy revealed.

The singer also released a video for his title track.

“We'll use a bunch of footage of Paul Kelly and me singing on stage,” Troy explained.

“There's also vintage footage from Rachel Perkins - Charles daughter. We'll also have a simple little hero shot. I want to make sure it's literal. I said to video director Duncan Toombs ‘it's not about me. It's about Charlie and the ride and re-enactment.”

Troy , 46 and father of two, is likely to add to his 27 Golden Guitars in Tamworth in January - he also has four ARIA awards, two APRA songs of the year and nine Deadly s (Australian Indigenous Artist Awards).

The singer has also sold more than 450,000 albums in his 25 year career.

ADAM HARVEY LIVE IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF BATTEAU BAY

Former Geelong truckie Adam Harvey hosts a back yard barbecue in the people's republic of Batteau Bay on the NSW Central Coast in his joyous new video.

Adam, who turns 41 on December 21, and musical mates show how to throw parties where the Christmas lights are on all year around.

Maybe Adam was drowning his sorrows after the Hawks decimated his cats in their 3Peat premiership year

Backyard Bar is on Adam's 12 th album Harvey's Bar - The Back Yard Sessions .

Harvey invited friends and neighbours for a sing-along with a few beers and yarns.

The title track is a running commentary on a Harvey 's Bar celebration.

“Because I've written a few drinking songs in the past,” explains Harvey , “and I talk about how “this happened in the bar, or we wrote this in the bar.” I have a lot of people that come up to me and say, ‘God, I'd love to spend a night in that bar'. I started to think ‘why don't we try and take a bit of that bar atmosphere and bring the bar to them'. That was the whole idea of the album. I started thinking about some of the songs that we would be singing in the bar. I got the guys in and it didn't matter if they made a mistake. It's all about a bunch of guys sitting around together having a good old night, and a few drinks, and having a bit of fun playing the music.”

Harvey includes Just Another Player In A Band and Alcoholaday on his new disc with help from co-writers Clint Crichton and Luke O'Shea.

ALEYCE SIMMONDS HONOURS BROTHER

Port Macquarie-born singer-songwriter Aleyce Simmonds honours her brother who died 21 years ago as a baby in her evocative video for Joshua from her second album Believe.

“I had feedback from Van Morrison that Joshua was the most heartfelt song that he'd heard in recent times after its showcase on BBC2 in the UK,” says Aleyce who turned 29 on December 6 after she won three Southern Star indie music awards in Mildura.

“I'm extra happy about this announcement because the song that I was nominated for was Joshua that I wrote about my baby brother who would be 21 years old if he was alive today.”

Aleyce performed with Louisiana guitarist singer-songwriter-actor Hunter Hayes in April at Prince Of Wales in St Kilda.

The dual 2015 Tamworth Golden Guitarist previously appeared on Nu Country TV with The Keeper from her debut album Pieces Of Me and her duet with Lachlan Bryan on My Life Drives Me To Drink.

MELANIE DYER FROM INVERELL TO NEWCASTLE

Inverell born farm girl Melanie Dyer debuts with her video for All You Need To Know About Me from her EP Lifetime .

It was shot in Newcastle by The Filmery's Josh Favoloro and celebrates Melanie's childhood with footage of her as a free-spirited country kid.

Dyer grew up on her family farm at Mt Russell near Inverell, performed frequently while at Inverell high school and now calls Roseberry home.

Her EP was released after she appeared on The Voice.

In 2012 Melanie was named The One That Got Away when she performed her original song at the blind auditions.

At the series conclusion Melanie was signed to Universal Music's Mercury Records label.

“I'm a country girl born and raised in a small country town,” Melanie, 21, revealed.

“I have listened to country music my whole life, I play acoustic guitar and write songs from an honest place. Part of me is a front row fan-girl at a Taylor Swift concert; the other is a closet lover of all cheesy 90's music and pop boy bands. By drawing truth from who I am and what I love, a fusion of country and pop sounds were created and I think will be identifiable across the songs”.

Dyer wrote song lyrics with guitar in hand for almost a decade before collaborating with accomplished songwriter Lindsay Rimes.

Her debut video for Lifetime was also filmed by Favalaro in Sydney and NSW central Coast.

Lifetime is a fun, high-energy song and so I wanted to make a clip to match that country/pop energy,” Melanie recalled.

“We decided to keep it simple, just a young band jamming out in a warehouse studio and having a ton of fun together. This is my first ever film clip and so it was so important to me to make a clip that is an honest representation of who I am”.

Melanie performs at CMC Rocks Queensland in Ipswich in March.
