YOUNG HEADS SOUTH TO THE BEACH

Tennessean Chris Young won fans when he last toured here twice with Big & Rich for our late TV show benefactor Rob Potts and fellow Tasmanian born promoter Michael Chugg.

This week he flies south to Florida to film his new video at the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach.

Hangin' On is the second single from Young's sixth album Losing Sleep.

Young, 32, previously appeared on Nu Country with his Losing Sleep video filmed at the Omni Hotel , Nashville.

He wrote the title track of his chart topping seventh album with Josh Hoge and Chris DeStefano.

Young co-wrote all 10 songs and was co-producer with Corey Crowder.

Vince Gill hosted Young's surprise induction to the Grand Ole Opry on October 17, 2017.

“I did not see my grandad, which would've been the one thing that tipped me off that something was up,” Young confessed.

“I did not see him or my grandmother and they hid them very well. My sister was here, which also should have tipped me off, because she doesn't come to shows a lot, but that's easy to say in retrospect. ”

Young and Gill performed Sober Saturday Night - a heartbreak ballad he wrote with Brad and Brett Warren - for previous album I'm Coming Over .

The singer also donated $100,000 to victims of Hurricane Harvey .

"I have family and friends there and I'm fairly positive my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the hardest hit areas by wind and flooding," Young revealed.

"But that's the least of my concern. I'm worried about the people there. Like I said, my friends, family, neighbours and I want to help."

JAMES CAROTHERS LIVE IN THE POSSUM'S AVIARY

Tennessean James Carothers descends from roof-top singing to street busking in his latest live show at the late Texan George Jones roof top bar on 2 nd Avenue in downtown Nashville.

Carothers also tried his hand at busking down below on the Music City's mean streets as he performs the title track of his debut album Relapse .

Carothers previously appeared live from the bar operated by George's widow Nancy in his inspired version of Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes - also from Relapse .

Earlier James married, started a family and paid the bills as a technician at Los Alamos National Laboratory - same place the atomic bomb was created.

Ironically, he recorded Relapse at Nashville Bomb Shelter Studio three years after his eight track debut EP Honky Tonk Land .

Carothers debuted on Nu Country with Back To Hank - his live homage to Hank Williams - at Jones birthday bash in Nashville.

He wrote all songs on Relapse between gigs at the bar.

James was born in Selmer, Tennessee, and grew up leading singing every Sunday in the Church of Christ.

Carothers father recorded two albums in Nashville before moving to New Mexico during James teenage years.

"My whole life, I've always loved those legendary artists,” James revealed.

"I've really learned how to sound like them, too. My Willie Nelson sounds like Willie Nelson. My Johnny Cash sounds like Johnny Cash. When I do the Highwaymen , it sounds like all of them. People really do want to hear all these old classic songs and I guess singing them is kind of what has made things happen for me here in Nashville. I see a lot of folks doing double takes when they first walk by - the impressions definitely get their attention. Then they stop and hang out with us for a show or two, buy a CD, and a lot of them keep coming back. It may sound cliché, but Jerry Lee and I really have made a bunch of lifelong friends just "sittin' on a bar stool actin' like a darn fool."
