DAVE'S DIARY - 18/1/10 - PREVIEW OF EPISODE 6 - SERIES 13

MIRANDA LAMBERT HEADLINES NU COUNTRY

Texan singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert headlines a diverse cast of young belles ringing on Nu Country TV this Saturday - January 23 - at 9.30 p m.

Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Kasey Chambers provide glamour on a show hosted by Heather Rutherford on C 31.

Singing actor Tim McGraw returns to a show that also features Geelong born Adam Harvey and John Williamson and expatriate Kiwi Matt Joe Gow.

Nu Country is repeated Tuesday at 3 p m and online at C 31 web page.

WHITE LIARS

Lambert won't be touring here this year - because of her huge success in the U.S.

A planned autumn visit has been postponed until 2011.

But Lambert, 26, deals summary justice to a cheating beau in the video for latest hit White Liar from her fourth album Revolution.

Miranda turned the eternal triangle into a quadrangle in her wedding day tryst.

Oklahoma star and real life partner Blake Shelton was definitely not the culprit
White Liar is one of 11 songs Miranda wrote on her new disc.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD - COWBOY CASSANOVAS

Oklahoma born American Idol winner Carrie Underwood also deals with cheaters in the video for her recent hit Cowboy Cassanova.

It's one of seven songs the singer, also 26, wrote on her third album Play On.

Carrie denied the song was about her former boyfriend - Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

"No," she said when asked if Romo inspired the song.
"I would never immortalise a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit."

And, of course, it's not about her new fiancee - Ottawa Senators hockey star Mike Fisher, 29.

KASEY CHAMBERS & POPPA BILL

Kasey Chambers and her dad Bill introduce their third generation choir in the video for their new single Lost Music Blues.

Yes, there's a frog playing a banjo, a worm on mandolin and Kasey on kazoo.

It's off the new Christmas kids' album Kasey Chambers, Poppa Bill & The Little Hillbillies.

They showcase 16 new songs including a relationship song by Kasey's seven-year-old son Talon.

Kasey, now 33 and mother of two sons, plays the CMC Rocks The Snowy festival at Thredbo on March 5 & 6.

TIM MCGRAW - SOUTHERN VOICE

Louisiana born singing actor Tim McGraw & The Dancehall Doctors perform in the video for the title track of his 10th album Southern Voice.

Tim - son of late baseball star Tug - won acclaim in recent movies Friday Night Lights and Flicka.

His new movie The Blind Side came out just after his big selling 2009 album.

Tim upstaged his singing spouse Faith Hill who was in a remake of the Stepford Wives movie.

McGraw, now 42, is about to perform opposite Gwyneth Paltrow in a new movie about a country singer.

Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester also will star in Screen Gems' country singing drama Love Don't Let Me Down.

ADAM HARVEY KING OF THE ROAD

Adam Harvey frocks up for his return to Nu Country in the video for his revamp of the late Roger Miller hit King Of The Road.

The Leopold born singer and Quambatook refugee John Williamson wear tuxedos in their video shot at The Supper Club in Oxford St, Sydney.

It's from Harvey's eighth album - duets disc, Both Sides Now.

Harvey, 34, and father of two sons, exploited his newfound TV fame by performing duets with artists from the pop and country genre.

It worked - the album hit #1 on the ARIA charts on debut.

The singer took inspiration from North Carolina born singing actor Randy Travis's duets discs Heroes & Friends.

"I saw him when he toured here and also on the George Jones 50th anniversary special concert DVD," Harvey recalled.

"He had everyone from George Jones to Clint Eastwood and Roy Rogers."

Harvey is touring nationally to promote his album.

MATT JOE GOW SEES THE LIGHT

Expatriate Kiwi Matt Joe Gow & his band The Dead Leaves perform a video of their latest single The Light.

It's from their album The Messenger on Liberation Records - latter day home of Kasey Chambers and Troy Cassar-Daley.

Gow & The Dead Leaves filmed their video in Melbourne.

"Duncan Tombs filmed it at the Sing Sing studio," Gow's guitarist Andy Pollock revealed.

"We also have Greg from a band called Ryder who played lap steel in the video," Gow added.

"We were going to ask Catherine Britt to be in the video. We have also been filming live footage for At The Bar and rehearsal footage."

Britt, 24, sang on angst anthems Things Fall Apart and At The Seams - highlight of Gow's CD.
