Veteran Colac born DJ-singer-songwriter Gene Bradley Fisk, now 88 and still hosting radio shows, headlines Nu Country TV at 9.30 pm on Saturday June 22.
Williamston duo Patsy & Dave return to our program repeated Monday at 3 am.
Hunter Valley singer-songwriter Kirsty Lee Akers, Texan troubadour Mickey Guyton, Kentuckian Carly Pearce and Missouri minstrel Sara Evans boomerang to the show filmed and produced by Laith Graham.
This series is dedicated to late Nu Country TV host and treasurer Mid-Pacific Bob Olson and Vice President Rod Browne.

GENE BRADLEY FISK HONOURS TRIBAL ELDER BLACKHAWK

Veteran Colac born DJ and singer-songwriter Gene Bradley Fisk, now 88 and hosting shows on WYN-FM in Werribee, pays tribute to late Western District tribal elder Blackhawk in his Nu Country return.
Gene, who lives in Geelong, honoured Blackhawk and other peers in his vivid video for the song penned by Paul Norton.
Fisk connected strongly with this story because of his own extensive family tree and history collection and belief of the importance of heritage and his lifelong study into our First Nations people and lands - the Gulidjan & Wadawurrung Nations in Western Victoria.
Blackhawk was inspired by Artistic Director of the Australian Shakespeare Company Glenn Elston with Balang also known as Tom E. Lewis, community Leader of the Murrungun, Arnhem land people.
Lewis is an internationally celebrated stage and screen actor renowned for performances in numerous films including Chant Of Jimmy Blacksmith & The Proposition.
Tom and Glenn co-presented Walking with Spirits celebration of the ancient Aboriginal tradition of Corroboree at Malkgulumbu ( Beswick Falls) on Jawoyn land.
The tale is a tribute to the Soul flight of Tribal elder Blackhawk who was farewelled in a traditional ceremony during Walking with Spirits.
Gene began playing mandolin and banjo at the age of 11 in the Colac Banjo Club.
That was before joining the RAAF at 15 and playing in The Strangers band while stationed in Malaysia.
On his Australian return he continued in music as DJ on 3HA, Hamilton, before hosting country music shows on 3UZ from 1977-1980 and 3GL Geelong before it became K-ROCK FM.
His many singles included The Bushranger, The Ballad Of Ronald Ryan and I Ain't Gonna Stand In Line.
Fisk fronted Nu Country in 2023 with The Last Of The Rock'n Rollers - the same week his daughter Donna, 62, performed her video for Last Mickey Newbury Fan.
He previously appeared on our show with former Tyabb troubadour Joe Ransom when they revisited the Otways for a cattle duffing tale based on Walter John's true story of being acquitted of cattle duffing in 1916.
Fisk told the story in his song Kaanglang Dreaming that means Place of the Tiger Snake.

PATSY & DAVE HEAD OVERSEAS FROM THE DOCK OF THE BAY

Williamstown bayside duo Patsy & Dave , previously recording and performing as the Long And Short Of It, take viewers on a joyous trip on their return to our show.
They travelled far and wide to find bliss with their backing band who were guests at the wake of our late Vice President at the Pirates Tavern at Steamworks in Williamstown.
The duo visited the Sunnymead Hotel on the Great Ocean Road at Airley's Inlet before heading to Krabi & Phi-Phi Island in Thailand.
They also played the Mantra Studio Kitchen Bar in Yarraville and recorded their vocals in their Yarraville studio Soggy Records with the music recorded in Nashville and mixed by Kenny Royster
Williamstown lawyer Patsy Toop OAM and Yarraville singer signwriter Dave Baird have been performing for more than a decade.
They market their music with regular video clips that have won international acclaim.
Their video for Dream Vacation promotes their ninth album released in September.
"We're excited to share Dream Vacation with our fans," Patsy revealed.
"It's a song that uplifts and brings joy, and we can't wait to see how our audience responds to it."

KIRSTY LEE AKERS RIDES HIGH IN THE SADDLE

Hunter Valley singer-songwriter Kirsty Lee Akers reached back to younger versions of her joyous journey in her latest video.
Kurri Kurri based Kirsty recruited gal pals and cowboys to ride high in their saddles as they were joined by horses and more four legged fillies.
Kirsty, 35, writes and films her videos with singing spouse Jesse Anderson.
Kids Are Why The West Is Wild follows her sixth album Wild.
She previously fronted Nu Country with her For Love video written about Jesse, Falling, Physical Distraction,
Wake Me Up When You Are Sober, Ain't That Kinda Girl, House Full of Flowers, Drive Till The Wheels Fall Off, That Ring Don't Fit My Hand, Under My Skin, Take Me Back, Leave It To Jesus, I Will and Outta Here.

MICKEY GUYTON NO MIRACLE

Texan singer-songwriter Mickey Guyton shows what it takes to be a woman - not a miracle - in her latest video.
Mickey celebrated her 41st birthday on June 17 and wrote 15 of 16 songs on her debut album Remember Her Name.
It followed her fourth EP Bridges that included Grammy nominated hit Black Like Me.
Woman is on her second album out this year.
Guyton hosted the 56th Academy of Country Music Awards with expat Australasian label mate Keith Urban
Mickey and Tennessean star and record label owner Kane Brown joined forces in their previous Nu Country duet video Nothing Compares To You.
The singer and lawyer husband Grant Savoy have a son Grayson, now three.

CARLY PEARCE FINDS A HUMMINGBIRD

Kentucky belle Carly Pearce finds her bird of choice - a hummingbird - on her Nu Country TV return.
Hummingbird is the title track of her fourth album released on June 7.
Carly, aged 34, and Arkansas traveller Ashley McBryde also fronted our show with morality tale Never Wanted To Be That Girl on Carly's third album 29 - Written In Stone.
Carly also appeared on Nu Country with Dear Miss Loretta - her evocative homage to fellow Kentucky born belle Loretta Lynn who died at 90 on October 4, 2022.
Carly wed Florida singer Michael Ray on October 6, 2019, on a Nashville farm but divorced him after eight months of marriage.
She hails from Taylor Hill, fronted bluegrass bands from the age of 11, played prison concerts at 14 and Dollywood at Pigeon Forge for a music residency at 16.
Carly fronted Nu Country with Lee Brice on I Hope You Are Happy Now, Hide The Wine and Every Little Thing and West Texan Josh Abbott with Wasn't That Drunk from Josh's fourth album Front Row Seat .

SARA EVANS PRIDE AND NO PREJUDICE

Missouri minstrel Sara Evans returns to our show long after her Australian tours.
Sara, now 53 and mother of three, toured in 2013 with Alan Jackson and Morgan Evans and played Rod Laver Arena.
She wrote her latest hit and video for Pride for her 12 th album Unbroke.
Evans wrote the song about abuse by husband Jay Barker who almost ran her down in his truck.
She was once wed to a Republican politician Craig Schelske who cheated with their nanny and now lives with former gridiron champ-radio host Jay Barker and their seven children in Alabama .
Sara's no stranger to large clans - she's the eldest girl in a family of seven raised on a Missouri farm and appeared on Dancing With The Stars.
She fronted Nu Country with previous videos Cheating about Schelske, Marquee Sign , My Heart Can't Tell You No , As If and Little Bit Stronger that featured in Tim McGraw-Gwyneth Paltrow movie Country Strong .
Evans released debut novel The Sweet By and By , written with Rachel Hauck, in January 2010 - a sequel Softly And Tenderly.
The book is about Jade Fitzgerald, a young woman who finds redemption in Christ as she confronts un-salved wounds of a stormy childhood with a wild, unpredictable mother, even as she inches closer to her own wedding. Some characters and parts of the setting come from Evans' experiences.

The Waylon, Highwaymen, Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.
She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.
Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.
Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 80, and son Shooter, 44.
