ASHLEY MCBRYDE HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV

Arkansas traveller and singer-songwriter Ashley McBryde headlines Nu Country TV at 6.30 pm on Saturday October 21.

Kentucky star Taylor Austin Dye and prolific Cronulla Golden Guitarist and music teacher and Luke O'Shea boomerang to the show repeated on Tuesday at 1 am.

Georgian singer Erin Kirby debuts on the program edited by our loyal producer and co-host Laith Graham that features a Behind Bars double shot by Texan western swing kings Asleep At The Wheel who made their debut Australian tour this month.

Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

ASHLEY LEAVES A LIGHT ON IN THE KITCHEN

Ashley McBryde headlines our show after touring here in 2019 with North Carolina nouveau outlaw and chart topper Luke Combs.

McBryde, 40 and one of eight children of a Mammoth Springs farmer preacher, makes vibrant videos to promote her thriving career.

A good example is Light On In The Kitchen clip, featuring her studio band, on her seventh album The Devil I Know.

Ashley takes a trip back through time to a younger singer with good advice about retiring for the night - have an after midnight pancake, join friends at the supper table, and of course, leave a light on in the kitchen.

McBryde made her Australian debut at the 2019 CMC Rocks Queensland festival.

She also fronted our show with Andy, I Need You, Hang In There Girl, Whiskey & Country Music, Radio Land, A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega, The First Thing I Reach For Is The Last Thing I Need, Hang in There, One Night Standards and American Scandal.

Ashley played Drake Hotel manager in Nashville in cheating scenario One Night Standards and joined Carly Pearce on Never Wanted To Be That Girl from Carly's third album 29 - Written In Stone .

TAYLOR AUSTIN DYE HEADS TO THE BIBLE BELT

Kentucky singer-songwriter Taylor Austin Dye boomerangs to our show after performing and recording with her band Ride or Dyes.

Taylor, now 27, wed fellow songwriter Josh Kerr in 2020.

The Booneville belle's new Bible Belt video follows RIP as her ninth single.

Taylor showed how she wanted to escape a small town Biblical prison suffered by her mother at a Waffle House with lipstick on a MAPCO coffee cup and counting change at a petrol pump before local cops raided their home.

She debuted on Nu Country in 2021 with No Good-Time Girl video that followed singles Mean, Salt On The Wound, Like You Do, Bad Habits and White Oak and her album Believe In The Sun.

Dye flies in the slipstream of peers diverse as Gretchen Wilson, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde and Kacey Musgraves.

“I have been playing and singing since I was 5 years old,” Dye revealed.

“I always knew I wanted to be an artist and have been pursuing it in some way or another ever since.”

ERIN KIRBY RAISED IN A BARN

Georgian singer-songwriter Erin Kirby soared since appearing on American Idol in 2020 at 15.

Erin, now 19, won the praise of judge Lionel Richie and released the singles Redneck Rich, Ours Tonight, Right Man and Waste My Time.

Kirby was joined in her new Raised In A Barn video by cute canines and gal pals as she romped through paddocks, outdoor makeup sessions, ornate lounge and a studio.

Her previous video Redneck Rich was an ode to country living, the way she grew up, and the genre.

Kirby celebrated the notion that being rich does not have one definition.

Money is not the only way to be rich.

She prefers the joys of country living head of high rise hell.

LUKE O'SHEA HONOURS A GHOST

Cronulla singer-songwriter, music teacher and 16 time Golden Guitarist Luke O'Shea honours a ghost on his Nu Country return.

Luke, 53, revisited a 1902 coal mine disaster near Port Kembla where the bodies of 96 miners who died in a gas blast were recovered.

The only exception was Mickey Brennan.

O'Shea, father of three, wrote Hey Jumbulla (The Ghost Of Mickey Brennan) with mining disaster descendant Zane Banks, who appears in his video.

Three of Zane Banks coal mining ancestors survived the disaster.

Hey Jumbulla (The Ghost Of Mickey Brennan) follows Luke's seventh album There In The Ochre.

Luke previously fronted our show with Ashleigh Dallas on Next Best Thing, Amber Lawrence on Catch You , Lyn Bowtell on Sing Me A Story, Right Now Station , Three Brothers, My Country's My King, Drover's Wife, Prodigal Son, Making Memories and Lady of The Land.

ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL BEHIND BARS DOUBLE SHOT

That was Texan western swing kings Asleep At The Wheel return to Behind Bars with another historic double shot as they celebrate their debut Australian tour.

Ray Benson's hot band perform live versions of Miles And Miles Of Texas and Route 66 that feature on several of their 42 albums.

They headlined the latest Out On The Weekend festival last weekend on the dock of the bay at Steamworks in Williamstown.

Last week they fronted Nu Country with spirited live versions of their classics Boogie Back To Texas and Hot Rod Lincoln - highlights of their 42 albums.

The nine time Grammy winners began in 1970 in Paw, Paw, West Virginia with co-founder and pedal steel ace Lucky Oceans who has long called Fremantle home.

Oceans, born Reuben Gosfield, met Christine Haddow - a young Australian photographer on The Boston Globe.

They wed in 1979 and moved to Fremantle where Oceans released solo albums Lucky Steels the Wheel in 1982 and Secret Steel in 2005 and discs with his Australian bands Dude Ranch and the Zydecats.

Asleep At The Wheel showcased their Texan humour in last week's Nu Country show with Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens in an underground cave for Cavern Sessions in Pelham , Tennessee , on March 20, 2022.

The Wheel were joined on the same show by Shotgun Willie Nelson, now 90 and on the road again with their live appearance and humour from David Letterman on his late night TV show.

They performed Hesitation Blues from the famed 2009 Willie & The Wheel album.

Asleep At The Wheel also fronted Nu Country with their videos for Jack I'm Mellow and Take Me Back To Tulsa .

WIN WAYLON, GEORGE JONES AND MERLE HAGGARD

George, Waylon, Merle and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling's favourite Texans.

The Waylon, Highwaymen , Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.

She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.

Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.

Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 80, and son Shooter, 44.
