TEXAN RANDY ROGERS HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV
Texan singer-songwriter Randy Rogers headlines N u Country TV at 6.30 pm on Saturday July 1.
Sydney singers Brooke McClymont, singing spouse Adam Eckersley and the Southbound trio appear in a drinking double shot in Behind Bars on the show repeated Thursday at 1 am.
Fellow Sydney singer-songwriters Bonnie Kellett and Kiara Rodrigues and Southern Alabama band Red Clay Strays boomerang to the program filmed and edited by our multi-talented lockdown producer-host Laith Graham.
Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

RANDY PILOTS HIS FAST CAR

West Texan singer-songwriter Randy Rogers drives a fast car in his Nu Country return.
Randy, 42, was born in Cleburne near Fort Worth and likes roots country so much he bought his own night club Cheatham Street Warehouse in new home-town San Marcos due south of Austin.
He cut his first live album in 2000 at Cheatham Street Warehouse.
He bought the venue that staged live country since 1974 from the family of late singer-songwriter Kent Finlay in 2015
Cheatham Street Warehouse hosted songwriter nights every Wednesday for more than 40 years.
Guest artists included Randy, Hal Ketchum, James McMurtry, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ernest Tubb, Townes Van Zandt, Todd Snider, Terri Hendrix, Bruce Robison, Tish Hinojosa, Adam Carroll, Walt Wilkins, Will and Charlie Sexton.
“We grew up on fiddle and steel in Texas,” Randy explained.
“We learned to play guitar from Willie Nelson records. It's part of the fabric of who we were. You can't take that out. That's been the music from day one with this band.”
Rogers also fronted Nu Country with Crazy People, I'll Never Get Over You and Rhinestoned.
Fast Car is one of 11 songs he wrote for his 14th album Homecoming.

ADAM AND BROOKE BEER DOUBLE SHOT

Adam Eckersley and singing spouse Brooke McClymont return to Behind Bars with first of our drinking double shots.
The Grafton born duo won three Golden Guitars at Tamworth in January.
Adam, 41, and Brooke, also 41, shared one with their daughter Tiggy Heart, just 10.
Brooke has won 15 Golden Guitars and 2 ARIA awards with her sisters in The McClymonts.
Adam also has two earlier Golden Guitars.
You And Beer is on Adam and Brooke's second album.
They previously fronted our show when they celebrated love in top gear in Train Wreck - one of eight songs they wrote for debut duet album Adam & Brooke , recorded in Byron Bay.
They filmed their video due south in New England at Uralla near Armidale.
Adam and Brooke wrote For You and Wheels in Nashville for his previous CD - The Second Album.
Brooke and her sisters grew up in Grafton - also hometown of Troy Cassar-Daley.

Sydney trio Southbound are joined by Canadian star Tim Hicks and Arizona export Austin Burke in their Behind Bars drinking double shot.
The trio wrote their song on Zoom during Covid and filmed it in Sydney , Canada and America.
Buy You A Drink follows four other singles including Drunk on their debut album.
The band featured Sarah Bernardo, Missy Lancaster, Rachel Fahim and Andrea Krakovska and previously fronted Nu Country with their Composure video from their debut 2022 album.
Southbound formed in 2019 and graced our show with fourth single This Is Us that followed Find Our Way with Shannon Noll, Drink and Get Drunk On Me.

BONNIE KELLETT HONOURS HER LATE DAD

Willunga born Sydney singer-songwriter Bonnie Kellett showcased two gifts from her late dad in her Nu Country return.
She played a 100-year old violin given to her by her father when she was just five.
Her producer Govinda Doyle also played a banjo gifted by Bonnie's dad.
Alex Blenkin joined Bonnie in her video at Saundy's Riverview on NSW mid-north coast.
Bonnie wrote Hooked in Nashville for her debut album.
She previously fronted our show with her Lost And Found and Devil videos, second and third singles on her album.
Bonnie grew up in Willunga wine country south of Adelaide and moved to Byron Bay before settling in Sydney.
She started performing aged six when she took up violin and played in orchestras, recitals and joined performing arts company OPUS and sang at theatre restaurant Night Train.
In 2007 Bonnie got her break in a full time course at Actors Centre Australia in Sydney - an acting school started by her hero Dean Carey.
The decision to leave her hometown at 18 was difficult but Bonnie and dad shared the 1300kms drive to Sydney.
She graduated in 2009 and acted in feature film Horizons Crossing , diverse TV projects and performs in touring showband Frogs On Toast and working on various television projects.

KIARA RODRIGUES MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

North Queensland born singer-songwriter and latter day Sydney speech pathologist Kiara Rodrigues debuts this week on Nu Country.
Kiara, now 28, kept our drinking theme alive in a song she wrote with expat Australian singer Katrina Burgoyne.
Message In A Bottle joins High School Reunion on her debut album out this year.
In 2019 she was a semi-finalist in Tamworth Songwriters Association awards - her song Mr Vanity earning Comedy/Novelty song of the year.
She also appeared on Channel Ten's Young Talent Time and The X Factor in her 16 year career.

RED CLAY STRAYS ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Southern Alabama roots band The Red Clay Strays take their name from their home state red dirt.
They feature Brandon Coleman (lead vocals/guitar), Drew Nix (vocals/electric guitar/harmonica), Zach Rishel (electric guitar), Andrew Bishop (bass) and John Hall (drums).
The band takes viewers on a long road trip as they play live after little sleep.
They have spent five years cutting their teeth in Gulf Coast music scene while running the roads in towns across the country.
Stone's Throw is on their debut album Moment Of Truth that also features Good Godly Woman, Doin' Time, Wondering Why and Heavy Heart.

WIN WAYLON, GEORGE JONES AND MERLE HAGGARD

George, Waylon, Merle and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling's favourite Texans.
The Waylon, Highwaymen , Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.
She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.
Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.
Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 79, and son Shooter, 43.
