LUKAS NELSON AND LAINEY WILSON HEADLINE NU COUNTRY TV
Texan singer-songwriter-actor Lukas Nelson and prolific Louisiana CMA Award winner Lainey Wilson headline N u Country TV at 6.30 pm on Saturday August 5.
Fellow Texan Tanya Tucker and Vermont born bluegrass singer-actor and 14 time Grammy winning bluegrass ace Dan Tyminski boomerang to the show repeated Thursday at 1 am.
Iowa born Voice graduate and dementia research benefactor Jay Allen debuts on the program filmed and edited by our multi-talented lockdown producer-host Laith Graham.
Expat Kiwis Matt Joe Gow and Kerryn Fields and award winning Williamston duo The Long & Short Of It also return this week.

LUKAS AND LAINEY MORE THAN JUST FRIENDS

Lukas Nelson, one of three sons of Shotgun Willie, now 90, found a match made in honky tonk heaven for his headlining role with Louisiana born Lainey Wilson.
Lainey, now 31, won four major country music awards this year and three in 2022.
The duo joined forces for their More Than Friends video from Lukas's twelfth album Sticks & Stones.
“Oh man, the best memory was laughing up there with Lainey goofing off while we did the scene where she bonked me sideways,” Lukas told Nu Country.
“Only God knows how that really worked but I tell you what I liked the way it turned out. We had a great fun time together. I'm very grateful to be in her life.”
Nelson, 34, and his hot band Promise Of The Real won large audiences on their 2019 Australian tour that included famed Richmond Corner Hotel .
“I went to Uluru a couple of times on my tours, that was really great,” Lukas revealed, “I'd like to back there. I was a child when I went there last, just eight or nine. I'm in the process of getting my private pilot's license. I'd like to go out with some bush pilots in Australia and go all around and explore the outback. I'd also like to do a little fishing and surfing in Australia.”
Recent Australian tourists Randy Houser, Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson and Chris Janson all fly their own planes to concerts.
Lukas followed dad Willie into movies after writing soundtrack songs and performing in Bradley Cooper-Lady Gaga remake of A Star Is Born.
He celebrated his birthday on Christmas Day after spending time in iso with dad Willie, mum Annie and extended family while he promoted Willie's festivals and concerts on-line during the pandemic.
He fronted Nu Country with videos for Wildest Dream, Movie On My Mind, Forget About Georgia, Just Outside Of Austin, Find Yourself, Bad Case, Healing Hands Of Time and My Tears Fall.
Lainey debuted on Nu Country in 2022, with Georgian Cole Swindell in Never Say Never from Cole's fourth album Stereotype and returned in January this year with Michael Hardy on Wait In the Truck from Hardy's fourth album The Mockingbird And The Crow .
She wrote What Would Dolly Do for her third album Saying What I'm Thinking before winning her CMA Awards for her fourth album Bell Bottom Country .

TANYA TUCKER PLEADS FOR KINDNESS

Dual Grammy winning Texan singer-songwriter Tanya Tucker is joined by horses and cattle on her Nu Country return.
Tanya, 64, begged for love on her jarring journey through life in her Kindness video.
Tucker had her first hit at 13 with Alex Harvey song Delta Dawn and followed with veteran outlaw David Allan Coe's vintage Would You Lay With Me In a field of Stone.
Tanya also appeared in Hard Country and Jeremiah Johnson movies and released Nickel Dreams: My Life book in 1997.
She fronted Nu Country in 2020 with a collage of images to illustrate her life story in her video for The House That Built Me from 27th album While I'm Living that won Tanya her two Grammys in February.
Tanya won best country album for While I'm Living and best country song for Bring My Flowers Now.
The wins were the first for Tanya after 10 nominations dating back 47 years.
“After 50 years in this business, and it's still unbelievable to me that I still have a few firsts left,” Tanya revealed.
Brandi Carlile produced Tanya's album with Shooter Jennings but her Hamer Hall concert on April 6, 2020, was cancelled because of the pandemic.
Tanya previously appeared on Nu Country with Shooter and Brandi in previous videos Hard Luck and The Wheels Of Laredo.
Kindness is on her 30th album Sweet Western Sound.

DAN TYMINSKI BLUEGRASS BROTHERHOOD

Vermont born bluegrass ace and 14 time Grammy winner Dan Tyminski returns with some hot pickers.
Dan, now 56, scored one of his Grammys for his Soggy Mountains Boys Man Of Constant Sorrow hit from the O Brother Where Art Thou movie.
This week Dan debuted his Hey Brother video from his fifth solo album after several with Alison Krauss & Union Station and played banjo and sang in The Lonesome River Band for five years from the age of 21.
Dan previously appeared on our show with a trip to the mountains to forests, bayous and rivers as he trawls through his personal history on his Bloodlines video from fourth solo album Southern Gothic.
The bluegrass gospel guru reveals he found ghosts in radios as he recalled his dad's guitar lessons as a child.
His solo albums include Carry Me Across the Mountain (2000) on Doobie Shea Records and Wheels (2008), on Rounder Records .
Dan began his career in high school with brother Stan in Green Mountain Bluegrass and sang on Avicii's international hit Hey Brother from her album True .

JAY ALLEN MATERNAL PRAYERS

Iowa born Voice graduate Jay Allen debuts on our show with his ode to late mum Sherry Lynn Rich who died in 2019 of Alzeimers.
Jay, 37, honoured his mum at the altar with candles and pictures in his evocative No Prayer Like Mama's video.
He also depicted mothers cheering their children at sport and walking them down church aisles at weddings.
Jay wrote the song with Justin Morgan as a tribute to the love and sacrifice of mothers.
The song was born out of Allen's experience of losing his mother to Alzheimer's disease and honours the memory of all mothers who dedicated their lives to their children, even in the face of adversity.
"That process was a difficult journey, but now I find strength in believing that my mom is still with me,” Jay explained.
“I hope this song brings honour to both mothers in heaven and those still with us."
Jay raised $50 million for Alzeimers research with previous hit Blank Stares .

Williamstown singing legal eagle Patsy Toop OAM and Yarraville singer-signwriter David Baird take us on a joyous journey in their Nu Country TV return.
The duo, who perform and record as The Long & Short Of It, explore a happy ending at scenic Tanglewood in Wonga Park and Mornington Peninsula.
Their words of wisdom are sweet solace for viewers and listeners in their video for A Little Love Will Fix You Up.
It's one of their 11 original songs on their acclaimed seventh album Midnight Choir, released on August 5, 2022.
Patsy was inducted onto Victorian Honour Roll of Women in recognition of her trailblazing litigation work and volunteering.
She was honoured for 34 years' legal work representing workers' human rights in cases of asbestos-related, chemical-induced illnesses and was founding board member and passionate volunteer for Seaworks Foundation's restoration and preservation of Williamstown's maritime precinct.
The duo illustrated their evocative story of a father raising his son in a powerful previous video That's Why I'm Here.
They also fronted Nu Country with Midnight Choir, Just Give It All You Got, Jesus Money, Gypsy White Moon, 50 Bucks And A Case Of Beer, 2,000 Years From Now and Kangaroo Rodeo videos .

MATT JOE GOW AND KERRYN FIELDS

Expat Kiwi singer-songwriter Matt Joe Gow and duet partner Kerryn Fields take viewers on a joyous journey against a golden sunset in their Nu Country return.
They performed their Your Heart Of Gold video that follows four albums by Matt and his Dead Leaves band and is scheduled for their duet album for release next year.
The duo trade verses over a bevy of acoustic instruments including Andrew Pollock on mandolin, fiddler Peter Denahy, double bassist Craig Kelly, drummer Daniel Brates and Alan Norman on accordion.
Gow grew up in Dunedin in the south island of New Zealand and Field was raised in Te Kuiti - a New Zealand north island farming community - and moved to Melbourne in 2007 and toured the world.
She released award winning 2021 album Water after returning to Aotearoa in New Zealand during the 2020 pandemic.

George, Waylon, Merle and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling's favourite Texans.
The Waylon, Highwaymen , Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.
She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.
Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.
Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 79, and son Shooter, 43.
