Oklahoma singer-actor-songwriter Toby Keith headlines Nu Country TV on Saturday August 28 at 9.30 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44.
Texan troubadour Vincent Neil Emerson boomerangs to the show hosted by expat Californian Mid-Pacific Bob Olson and repeated Wednesday at 11.30 pm.
Kentucky Coalminer's son Tyler Childers returns with a live double shot in Behind Bars on our program filmed and edited by our multi-talented editor, cameraman and lockdown producer-host Laith Graham.
Tamworth singer-songwriter Allison Forbes and Queensland duo Brad Butcher and Camille Trail also appear this week.
Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

TOBY RETURNS TO OLD SCHOOL

Oklahoma star Toby Keith returns with his road wise education in a singalong.
Toby, now 60, starred with fellow equestrian Shotgun Willie Nelson, now 88, in the 2015 movie Beer For My Horses.
Toby toured here in 2014 for late promoter Rob Potts - one of our valued TV show benefactors.
This time Toby was front and centre in Old School, penned by Texan Maren Morris, her singing spouse Ryan Hurd and Brett Tyler.
"When I first heard the demo, it reminded me of Steve Miller," Keith revealed.
"But it had a little bit of a rap to it - not unlike the can of worms I opened years ago with I Wanna Talk About Me. Then it's got the coolest melodic waterfall and I was like, 'Yeah, I gotta cut this.'"
Old School is on Keith's 30th album Peso In My Pocket via Show Dog out on October 15 and follows his Show Dog Years and Bus Songs albums.
Keith also offers a tribute to late John Prine on Prine-John Mellencamp co-write Take A Look At My Heart.

VINCENT NEIL EMERSON SALUTES A TEXAS MOON

East Texan troubadour Vincent Neil Emerson won fans with his Willie Nelson's Wall video from his 2019 album Fried Chicken And Evil Women and boomerangs this week with Texas Moon.
It's on the Myrtle Springs born, latter day Fort Worth singer-songwriter's second self-titled album produced by fellow Texan Rodney Crowell and released on La Honda Records-Thirty Tigers on June 25.
His video preceded singles High On Getting By and Learning To Drown .
I got drawn into this project as a producer because I was immediately drawn to the poetry of the songs that Vincent writes, Crowell revealed.
To me it's in that Texas folk-singer tradition of Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Ray Wylie Hubbard, myself and Steve Earle. When I heard Vincent's songs, I said, I get this. I understand it. I want to be a part of this.' It's really exciting to me that there's another generation coming up with the sensibilities of really good, strong language and a respect for the tradition of poetic folk-singing and songwriting.

TYLER CHILDERS BEHIND BARS IN FORT HOOD

Kentucky coalminer's son Tyler Childers returns to Behind Bars with a double shot filmed with his band at famed 2019 Fort Hood Pickathon festival in Happy Valley near Portland, Oregon.
Childers, now 30, revived his popular psalms House Fire and Whitehouse Road from his Country Squire and Purgatory albums.
Appalachian Tyler won a 2018 Americana award and toured here in 2019 with former Chicago postie John Prine who died at 73 on April 7, 2020, from COVID.
Tyler also appeared on Nu Country with videos for All Your, I Swear To God, Whitehouse Road, House Fire, Bus Route, Feathered Indians and Snipe Hunt with singing spouse Senora May.
Childers jumped genres with a tasty flourish when late culinary TV host Anthony Bourdain used his songs when he featured West Virginia on his Parts Unknown special in April, 2018.
His soulful country-bluegrass-folk hybrid was perfect soundtrack for Bourdain's special on Appalachian cooking and culture.
Tyler shares Kentucky roots with Coalminer's daughters and sons Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, Patty Loveless, Pistol Annie Angaleena Presley and Grammy winning chart topper Chris Stapleton.

ALLISON FORBES DEAD MEN TALES TRIBUTE

Tamworth singer-songwriter Allison Forbes moved to the country music capital after leaving school in nearby hometown Wee Waa.
The four time Golden Guitars finalist performs her Save You Now video from her second album Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The song is losing that version of the life you created and not knowing what to do next, Forbes revealed.
It witnesses sheer desperation, whether observing it in somebody else or experiencing it within yourself, shaking your head and wondering how things went so wrong.
This hard-hitting alt-country ballad was produced by ARIA Award winning Matt Fell with vocals by Shane Nicholson who produced her debut album Bonedigger.
Allison wrote Keep Quiet with Nundle Dag Sheep Station host John Krsulja for his second album Burden Of The Fool.
That song opened with a verse about the plight of the wife of an absentee miner before examining a stolen generation victim, young lovers, a cheating boss and the greed of politicians and banks and the hypocrisy of religion.
Keep Quiet was written here at The DAG over a bottle of wine in 2015, not long after I recorded Travellin ', John K explained.
It's the oldest song on the new album. It came about after Allison suggested a song title Keep Quiet and we talked about so many topics, including depression, suicide, #metoo, child abuse, corruption and others, I then went away and wrote the song.

BRAD BUTCHER AND CAMILLE BLAZE A TRAIL

Queensland duo Camille Trail and Brad Butcher made huge sacrifices to fuel their careers.
Camille was raised on a cattle farm near Rockhampton and sold a couple of bulls to finance her debut album produced by Shane Nicholson at Sound Hole Studios.
They perform their Holding Pattern video from their Compass Brothers album that is released later this year.
Camille, now 22, still works the family farm between gigs after graduating in 2019 from JMC in Brisbane with a Bachelor of Music in song writing.
She appeared on Nu Country with videos for human slavery song Humming Chain filmed on her farm and Devil's Drink on her debut disc.
I wrote Devil's Drink around the idea of something following you - whether it's a person or a fear - and how you just can't shake it off, no matter what you do,
I was writing in the early hours of the morning or late at night, Trail added.
I found that was when inspiration hit me the most. I was inspired by heartbreak of course, love, and also what I was reading at the time and even just looking out the window and people-watching.
Butcher, now 38 and a former coalminer and crane operator, grew up in nearby Mackay,
The dual Golden Guitarist released four solo albums before his duet with Camille and won best new talent Golden Guitar at the age of 34.
He graced Nu Country with his I'm All In video from fourth album Travelling Salesman and Well Dressed Man - a song he wrote for grandfather Norman - on his third album From The Bottom Of A Well .
Brad grew up fishing the Pioneer river and playing Rugby League in Mackay while working in coal mines as a crane operator and rigger.
He toured the world with concerts at iconic Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and New York City 's The Bitter End in Greenwich Village in 2016.

George Jones, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling's favourite Texans.

She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.
Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas .
Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 78, and son Shooter, 42.
