MATT JOE GOW A GAMBLING MAN Expat Kiwi Matt Joe Gow climbed the greenery to a bake house with a difference in his video for Gambling Man from his third album Break, Rattle & Roll. Gow's quintet included singer Katya Harrop and Dead Livers pedal steel guitarist Brendan Mitchell. Director Regan Wood filmed the video in September at Bakehouse Studios in Richmond. Gambling Man is a tongue in cheek homage with analogies like if you ain't got nothing you ain't got nothing to lose,' Gow revealed of a song that shared a lyric with a 1982 hit by Octogenarian Bobby Bare. It wasn't just the band playing, there's a little bit of a story to that. It's about going out there and making the most of it. Bakehouse is kind of iconic for Melbourne bands, it's pretty cool when you walk into it. You know what city you are in. The singer produced his album with his long time guitarist Andrew Pollock at The Aviary and Leafy Green studios in Melbourne . He also wrote Gambling Man and Sun Will Set with Pollock. TENILLE TOWNES FROM GRAND PRAIRIE TO NASHVILLE Canadian Tenille Townes was raised in Grand Prairie , Alberta , where she began writing songs at the age of 14. A year later she raised funds for a youth shelter in her home town as she toured 106 schools. Townes, now 24, then flew south to Nashville five years ago and expanded her career. This week she performs her video for Somebody's Daughter on her third album Living Room Work Tapes , produced with Jay Joyce in his converted church studio in Nashville The first verse was inspired by a car trip with her mum visiting Nashville when they saw a girl on the footpath trying to sell lemonade. We were going furniture shopping and took this exit off the interstate and saw this young girl standing there holding onto a cardboard sign, Townes revealed. We had a moment in the car as we were stopped at the red light beside her just wondering what her story might have been and whom she belonged to and just thinking about the fact that everybody's got a story. That conversation and that young girl's face stuck with me, and I knew I had to write about it. She wrote Strong Blood in memory of her father on Michael Rinne produced Southern Ambrosia. "While the only assets he left were a bag of power tools and a couple old, busted pickup trucks in our driveway, he did pass on to me a big ol' steady heart," Murray revealed. "When I get low, when times in our world get grim and hopeless, I see his ashes on my dresser and remember not only the strength that flows in my blood but also about how music is a magical, mystical force and singing is endlessly powerful." The album title is gleaned from a lyric in Strong Blood between references to the famous peaches of her native Georgia and The Allman Brothers iconic album, Eat a Peach .
