FIRESIDE DISCIPLES SLAY GOLIATH

Kasey Chambers and her acoustic band The Fireside Disciples returned to a mountain top on the NSW Central Coast to film the second video from her 12th album Campfire Tapes.

Kasey revealed their gospel fuelled Goliath Is Dead - penned with young guitarist Brandon Dodd - “is a really sad song.”

She proves that when they smoke out evil giants and a drought with a little help from Poppa Bill and Broome band leader and producer Alan Pigram.

It was a busy day for Alan who fronts his Pigram Brothers and produces other artists on our West coast.

Pigram flew in from Broome and performed three Fireside Disciples videos in a hectic day.

Kasey, Poppa Bill and Pigram wrote the title track that draws from the indigenous Yarawu spoken word in Broome and fuels the video.

“I put our video director Duncan Tombs to the test,” Kasey, 41 and mother of three explained.

“I rang him up and said we want to do three videos in the one day. Al was over from Broome and he only had one day. Duncan really loves the challenge, he got his team together and we did Campfire Song, Go On Your Way and Goliath Is Dead . We filmed Campfire Song and Goliath Is Dead on the Central Coast right up the top of a mountain - the same place we took the photo shoot for the album cover. We did Go Your Own Way in my mum's backyard. She has this little house on the Central coast with this little jetty that goes out the back onto the river. My kids go out there and fish. This one has a particular water vibe.”

Kasey and her Fireside Disciples and Carrie Underwood headline the 20th Deni Ute Muster on September 28-29.

CARRIE CRIES PRETTY – NOT PRETY ENOUGH

Oklahoma oriole-actor Carrie Underwood survived serious injuries in a frightening fall at her home in November to record a new album and video.

Carrie, now 35, broke her wrist and had 50 stitches in facial wounds but has recovered to return for her second Australian tour in September.

She toured here with expat Australasian star Keith Urban in the summer of 2016 and won her 12th American music award for her fifth album Storyteller.

The album scored another award for her duet with Keith on their chart-topping hit The Fighter.

This week she performs her video for Cry Pretty - title track of her sixth album, out September 14.

Carrie wrote it with Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose ( The Love Junkies ) and produced her album with fellow writer/producer David Garcia.

"At this point in my career, I feel stronger and more creative than ever,” Carrie revealed.

“I think you can hear that in this new album. It's emotional, it's soulful, it's real, and we also have some fun on there too. I hope everyone loves it as much as I have loved making it."

Underwood spent much of 2016 on tour and took most of 2017 off before co-hosting the CMA Awards in November with Brad Paisley.

She acted in 2011 movie Soul Surfer and diverse TV shows.

CHARLIE WORSHAM OLD TIMES SAKE

Mississippi minstrel Charlie Worsham won many fans during his April tour when he played historic Melbourne Forum Theatre with Georgian Kip Moore and South Carolina star Lee Brice.

That was after they headlined The Way Out West festival at the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton, Queensland.

Charlie, 33, also enjoyed a short by memorable role in TV crime series Bones .

But art didn't imitate life when struggling country singer Colin Haynes, played by Worsham, was murdered.

Haynes body was found in a shallow grave before the Bones investigators discovered he was also the victim of deceitful dealings by his record company.

“My acting career got killed off before it began,” Worsham revealed.

But, unlike his character Haynes, this singer didn't suffer deceit from his record company Warner.

This week Charlie performs Old Time's Sake from his second album Beginning Of Things .

MONTGOMERY GENTRY TRIBUTE

We again pay tribute to Kentucky duo Montgomery Gentry whose career ended with Troy Gentry's tragic death at 50 in a helicopter crash en route to a New Jersey concert.

A phoenix arose from those ashes at the Flying W airport in Medford, New Jersey.

The duo performs its vivid video for eighth album title track Folks Like Us .

Their ninth album Here's To You was released on their 20 th anniversary on February 2, 2018, and survivor Eddie Montgomery toured to promote the disc.

It was recorded just before Troy's death on September 8, 2017 - the same day Texan singing actor Don Williams died aged 78.

Troy and duo partner Eddie Montgomery, who turned 54 just 22 days later, had planned to perform new songs from their album at the concert.

“Our world was turned upside down in an instant and nothing could have prepared us for this," Eddie revealed.

“Over the past few months T-Roy and I have been working on what I think is the best record of our career. In the last few weeks we had been talking about what our first single would be. Then on September 8 none of that mattered."

Better Me , one of the songs on the new album, was played during Gentry's memorial at the Grand Ole Opry on September 14.

" Better Me is a song we all loved and Troy sings his ass off on it," Montgomery added.

"It speaks volumes about his life and who he had become and everyone he touched and how much he loved his family. I am so proud of this song and also to call him my friend, my family, my brother for 30 years."
