DARIUS RUCKER HEADLINES NU COUNTRY ON EVE OF MARCH TOUR
South Carolina raised singer Darius Rucker headlines our second summer show on the eve of his debut Australian tour that brings him to the Melbourne Forum on March 19.
Georgian Kip Moore also returns to Nu Country TV on Saturday December 9 at 9 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44 as a prelude to his third Australian tour.
Shotgun Willie Nelson passes the baton to his sons Lukas and Micah in a live sibling double shot in Behind Bars on the program hosted by Mid Pacific Bob Olson and repeated Monday at 8 am.
Gippsland born twins Lee and Paula Bowman also front Jetty Road in the extended family show filmed and edited by Laith Graham.
And teenage trio The Buckleys debut as they run south from their NSW northern rivers family home to the Central Coast .

DARIUS RUCKER TOP OF THE TOWER

Darius Rucker and his band defy gravity when they perform live from the top of the Capitol Records tower in Los Angeles.
They debut For The First Time, Top Of The Tower from Rucker's fifth album - When Was The Last Time.
When Darius, 51, tours here for the first time with Luke Combs they will perform beneath Greco-Roman statues, minaret and cupola on top of The Forum in Flinders Street in our CBD on Monday March 19.
They join Georgian Luke Bryan, Kelsea Ballerini, Dustin Lynch, Randy Houser, Old Dominion , Dan + Shay, Dean Brody, Brett Young, Brothers Osborne, Gord Bamford and major local artists at the sold-out CMC Rocks Queensland festival in Ipswich from March 15-18.
The 11th CMC festival and the Rucker-Combs tour are among the memorable projects organised by our late benefactor Rob Potts and fellow Tasmanian born Michael Chugg.
“I thought it was the perfect song for the record when we wrote it because I'm the worst about getting into my routine, and I don't try anything or do anything,” Rucker revealed of his new single.
“Then that song made me sit down and go, “What have I done?” I'm always talking about what I want to do, and I never do it. It inspired me to do something new. But that's what the whole record encompasses is a feeling of living life and not just letting it go by. And so I thought it was the perfect song to start the record.”
Triple Grammy winner Rucker appeared on Nu Country with I Got Nothing from his third album Charleston , South Carolina , 1966 - named after his hometown.
But his version of Wagon Wheel from fourth album True Believers sold two million copies and broke him here.
Wagon Wheel was a Bob Dylan song that also charted for Old Crow Medicine Show after lead singer Ketch Secor revamped the lyrics.
Darius is fast surpassing success of his former band Hootie & The Blowfish that sold more than 25 million albums in their 22-year career that started at college in South Carolina in 1986.
In 2017 he launched a new golf show on Sirius XM's PGA Tour Radio , and acted in Hawaii Five-O and CMT show Sun Records .
When Rucker scored with Don't Think I Don't Think About It, he was the first Afro-American to top country charts solo since Charley Pride's 29th smash Night Games in 1983.
The late Ray Charles followed with his No. 1 country single - a duet with Willie Nelson on Seven Spanish Angels in March 1985.

KIP MOORE RETURNS WAY OUT WEST

On Georgian Kip Moore's last tour here for Potts and Chugg he performed at Hamer Hall in Melbourne with dual Grammy winners Little Big Town after the 2017 CMC Rocks Queensland festival. This time Kip and South Carolina born singer Lee Brice return for the Way Out West festival at Winton in Queensland from April 19-22. It's being staged to celebrate rebirth of the historic Waltzing Matilda centre that was destroyed in a 2015 fire. Moore , now 37, returns with his video for More Girls Like You from his third album Slowheart. |
Kip wrote 11 songs on Slowheart, released on September 8, but not his previous hit The Bull .
Moore, one of six children, debuted here at the Snowy Mountains country festival at Thredbo and CMC Rocks Queensland in 2016.
His mother plays organ in the Baptist church at Tifton , Georgia , where he debuted at the Mellow Mushroom restaurant.
Kip was an avid surfer before choosing music - he once swam across a channel of alligators to catch good surf in Central America.
He's gone head-to-head with a raging bull, and earlier this year, attempted to scale vertical cliffs in Iceland.
“That was pretty dumb,” Moore confessed.
“There were a couple of slips that we had that could have been detrimental. But we wanted to see what was at the top of certain canyons, and that was the only way to get there. So we went for it.”

SHOTGUN WILLIE AND THE BOYS BEHIND BARS BUT IN LUCK

Octogenarian singing actor Willie Nelson passes the baton to his sons Lukas and Micah in a live double shot in Behind Bars.
They discuss their life on an off the road and at the family ranch at Pedernales that also houses, movie town Luck, a chapel of love and golf course.
The siblings and sire also perform Willie's historic hit Healing Hands Of Time and My Tears Fall.
Both are on Willie & The Boys - his new Stash album released in October.
It follows his 2014 Stash disc December Day with elder sister Bobbie, now 86.
The 12 tracks include songs written by four Hanks - Williams, Snow, Cochran and Locklin.
Hank Williams wrote seven songs on the disc that Willie describes as “kinda like the country version of Stardust .”
“You have all these great songs and standards that the young people have never heard,” Willie revealed.
“Then all of a sudden you have a whole new audience out there.”
Lukas Nelson recently topped Americana charts with his band Promise Of The Real that features Micah as a multi-instrumentalist.
"I figured the one thing that would be able to bring us together was if I learned how to play real well," Lukas quipped in the family intro.
Micah is also singer and guitarist in a folky project Particle Kid.
The new album features recordings laid down during the 2011 sessions for Heroes - Nelson's Legacy records debut produced by Buddy Cannon at the Pedernales Studio.

THE BOWMAN BELLES RUN FREE ON JETTY ROAD

Dual Golden Guitar winners Jetty Road return with their video for You Need To Run from their fifth album Hearts On Fire. The runner in their clip flees his pursuers in 37 degrees heat in the peaks and valleys of the mountainous You Yangs west of Melbourne . The chase continues in graffiti strewn streets and Footscray railway station before the band ascends to a CBD vantage point. “We ended up on a rooftop in the city overlooking St Paul 's cathedral and the Arts Centre spire,” Jetty Road co-founder Lee Bowman revealed. Its way out west of where twins Lee and Paula left Jetty Road , Nungurner, in the picturesque Gippsland lakes for the big smoke of Melbourne and way beyond. |
They have performed with Julian Sammut for more than a decade after starting as Tamworth street buskers.
Jetty Road performed international concerts and festivals on the rolling prairies of Canada and the peaks and valleys of Switzerland , Germany , Belgium , Norway , France , Denmark , Austria and honky tonks of Lower Broadway in Nashville .
The band recorded its fourth album Far Away Places in Vancouver in Canada
Jetty Road recently appeared at the Maroondah festival and on Nu Country with their humorous video for Shakedown.

THE BUCKLEYS AT A TEDDY BEARS PICNIC.

It's a long journey from the NSW northern rivers home of teenage siblings The Buckleys to the Americana festival in Nashville.
But the trio honed their writing, musical and vocal skills since busking live as pre-teen tots on Peel Street , Tamworth , in 2011.
Success is no real shock for the prized progeny of Mick Buckley - drummer for seventies rock band The Radiators.
Sarah Grace 17, Lachlan 16 and Molly Buckley, 14, prove they have tight harmonies and healthy humour in their video for Run.
The video, replete with refugees from a teddy bears picnic of sorts, was shot on the NSW Central Coast by The Filmery.
Matt Fell produced Run that was written by Jennifer Hanson, Jason Lehning and Kelleigh Bannen.
The trio signed an international record deal with Aussie indie label, Golden Robot Records after touring the U.S. in 2016.
They played The Bluebird Café and Music City Roots Festival in Nashville and have performed with artists diverse as Jim Lauderdale and Bill Chambers.
The trio also wrote with prolific hit writers in Nashville including Grammy nominated Rafe Van Hoy, Jim Photoglo and Debby Throckmorton.
