RHONDA VINCENT AND DARYLE SINGLETARY HEADLINE NU COUNTRY TV
Missouri bluegrass queen Rhonda Vincent and late Georgian Daryle Singletary headline Nu Country TV on Saturday May 12 at 9 pm on Channel 31/ Digital 44.
Singletary, who died prematurely at 46, also performs one of his early hits on the show repeated on Monday at 3 pm.
New Mexico born minstrel Bri Bagwell returns and Alabama singer-songwriter Drake White debuts on the program filmed and edited by Laith Graham.
Queensland born 8 Ball Aitken and latter day Novocastrian Matt Scullion also return with their latest video clips.
Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

RHONDA AND DARYLE DUET

Grammy winner Rhonda Vincent joins recently deceased Georgian singer-songwriter Daryle Singletary in a Daryle double shot in our Behind Bars segment.
Rhonda, 58, and Daryle perform a live duet of Above And Beyond at The Factory in Nashville in July last year.
It was just six months before Singletary died at 46 on February 12.
Above and Beyond was on Singletary's eighth album Grandstand - his final record.
Rhonda, 55, has released 18 solo albums and two duet discs with Singletary and veteran Texan honky tonk hero Gene Watson.
Singletary also performs his sardonic 1995 hit Living Up To Her Low Expectations from his self-titled debut album.
Daryle was born in Cairo , Georgia , and started as a child singing gospel with his brother and cousins.
He moved to Nashville in 1990 and played local nightclubs before being signed by Evergreen Records in 1992.
Singletary signed with Irving Azoff's Giant label that released his Randy Travis co-produced debut album in 1995 that also launched his hits I Let Her Lie and Too Much Fun .
His other memorable songs included Amen Kind Of Love, The Note, Jesus And Bartenders and She's Been Cheating On Us.

DRAKE WHITE HANGS UP PHONE

Alabama born Drake White debuts with a memorable mobile phone message - live music trumps telephonic addiction. White drives home his satiric spoof at The Parish in Austin , Texas , in his humorous video for Heartbeat - one of 10 songs he wrote on his second album Spark. “Since we began this journey, working on the album, I knew I wanted the title to be Spark,” White revealed. “The idea of starting a big fire from a tiny spark has always been so intriguing to me. That's the way I live my life; starting with a small plan and then it becomes this dream I didn't know how to dream.” |
The Spark album cover tells the visual story of who White is as an artist, husband and native Alabamian.
The images imprinted in his silhouette paint a narrative of White's life, including wife Alex, his hometown church where his grandfather served as preacher, his dog Writer and other mementos that inspired the album, produced by Ross Copperman and Jeremy Stover.
White began singing in the youth choir at First Baptist Church of Hokes Bluff in Alabama .
Drake graduated from Auburn University with a degree in building science before working as a contractor in Nashville and choosing a musical career.
He released indie album 50 Years Too Late in 2011 and fronted his band Drake White & The Big Fire.
Drake opened for Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Big Town and Zac Brown Band and released 2013 debut single Simple Life through MCA before signing with Dot Records in 2014.

BRI BAGWELL TWICE AS GOOD

New Mexico refugee and latter day Austin resident Bri Bagwell returns to the show by popular demand.
Bri, now 31, moved to Texas from Las Cruces - the city of crosses - in New Mexico about 10 years ago and performs Half A Good from her second album When A Heart Breaks.
The four-time Texas Female Vocalist of the Year spent six years with her band The Banned.
Bagwell began performing with her two brothers as a teenager before moving to Austin at 18 and graduating with a marketing degree from the University of Texas.
She released debut album Banned from Santa Fe in 2011 after a top 10 finish on CMT Next Superstar reality TV show.
In 2013 she released an EP of demos recorded as a hired songwriter at Sony ATV in Nashville , followed by When a Heart Breaks in 2015.

8 BALL AITKEN FROM CANE FIELDS TO SWAMPS

Former Queensland banana picker and cane cutter 8-Ball Aitken captures most of his time overseas on his albums and video clips.
Aitken - the second eldest of 12 children born near Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands in the far north - swamped banana picking for guitar picking and singing in his national and international travels.
He landed his songs in U.S. TV shows Justified, Breaking Amish and Parking Wars in his overseas sojourns
The 36 year-old singing actor also appeared in the famed TV series Nashvillew23e.
This week he performs his video for Lindy Loo on his 10th album Swamp Blues
He recorded at the Yellow Dog studio at Wimberley in the Texas Hill country.
That's also where Ray Wylie Hubbard hangs his hat and latter day Australian Kevin Welch also lived before moving to the NSW south coast.

MATT SCULLION - FROM NASHVILLE TO NEWCASTLE

Prolific Australian singer-songwriter Matt Scullion returned here after a six year Nashville stint where he wrote hits for many peers. Matt Scullion was born in Ulladulla on the south coast of NSW and also spent 12 years in Darwin. That was where he was in a band - Bronwyn Bishop's Love Children. Matt now lives in Newcastle when not on the road and appeared in the Paul Hogan-Shane Jacobsen movie Charlie & Boots that also featured his song Giddy Up from his previous album Put It Down To Experience. This week Matt performs Outta My Own Way from his second solo album I'm Just A Song. He also co-wrote 2018 Golden Guitar winning song Our Backyard for Travis Collins and Amber Lawrence. A three-month visa for Nashville turned into a six-year stint for Scullion who spent over 15 years travelling between Nashville and Newcastle , honing his craft. |
