EAST FINDS TEXAN GIRLFRIEND

Anderson East - partner of Texan Miranda Lambert - returns with his ode to a girlfriend and a stolen kiss.

East acted out his latest video that featured the thrill of the chase for the youngsters.

Anderson has dated Texan Miranda Lambert for two years since she divorced Blake Shelton in 2015 after a four year marriage.

"There's a true admiration there and a large level of understanding on both sides for sure," revealed East who wrote two songs for Miranda's seventh album The Weight Of These Wings .

"It's always difficult to be a traveling musician and still keep things together. Understanding is a huge factor."

But new single and video Girlfriend was not about the Pistol Annies singer.

East, 30, wrote Girlfriend with Avici for his fourth album Encore that was produced by Dave Cobb and features nine originals written with peers diverse as Chris and Morgane Stapleton, Natalie Hemby, Aaron Raitiere and Ed Sheeran.

"It was very impulsive," East recalled of his writing session with Avicii.

"There was no premonition of it. What was actually supposed to end up being a writing appointment ended up turning into a whole session. We started at about 5 p.m. with nothing and walked out at 3 a.m. and that's what you hear on the record."

But did Lambert inspire the song?

"It was something tongue-in-cheek that made us laugh. We were just trying to amuse ourselves," added East who once recorded as Mike Anderson.

But East's 2015 album Delilah shared name with one of Miranda's canines.

Lambert recently re-united for two shows with the Pistol Annies in Knoxville, Tennessee and Cleveland, Ohio, on her Living Like Hippies tour and released new single Keeper Of The Flame.

MORGAN EVANS KISSES KELSEA

Novocastrian Morgan Evans returns to the show with a romantic video that echoes his romance with Tennessean singing spouse Kelsea Ballerini.

Morgan met Kelsea as judges at the 2016 CMC Rocks Queensland Festival in Ipswich that featured Jason Aldean, Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line and many more.

“I knew straight away that I wanted to marry her,” Evans said at the time.

“She's the best chick ever.”

They were engaged on Christmas Day in 2016 and wed at the Esperanza luxury resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on December 2 last year.

Kiss Somebody was first single on the 32 year-old singer's second album.

Evans wrote the song with Josh Osborne and Chris DeStefano.

“The day we wrote it, Josh came into Chris' house with the title,” Evans recalled.

“I had my Maton guitar, and I started playing the chords. And I told them a story about my friend who was still broken-hearted over a girl a year after they broke up. I'd told him, ‘Dude, you've got to kiss somebody.' It's a way you can get over someone.”

The new single is the apt I Do.

"Wrote it about my girlfriend,” said Evans as he traced the song time line.

“Recorded it about my fiance. Releasing it about my wife."

"In the lead-up to a wedding, you ask a lot of your married friends - especially people that are in similar situations or similar age - 'does anything change or is it just the same but a little more awesome?' Everyone keeps telling us, 'Ah, it gets better. And so whatever that means, I'm looking forward to that, and it's gonna be fun."

Kelsea, now 24, was born in Mascot, raised in Knoxville and returned for 2018 Country Music Rocks Queensland festival this month.

It's a far cry from when Evans toured Australia in 2013 with Georgian superstar Alan Jackson and Missouri minstrel Sara Evans after releasing second EP While We're Young - follow up to debut EP Live Each Day.

Morgan recently toured here with James Blunt.

Expat Adelaide guitarist-singer-songwriter Jedd Hughes produced While We're Young in Nashville.

BUSBY MAROU RESURRECTION

Queensland duo Busby Marou has good reason to celebrate life on the dock of the bay on new single and video for Drink The World Dry from its third album.

Jeremy Marou, just 34, suffered a heart attack in May last year.

Marou suffered the heart attack after playing Oztag and reportedly had a 99% blocked artery.

"It was a big eye opener for me," said Marou who has Torres Strait heritage.

Drink The World Dry follows chart topping third album Postcards From The Shell House recorded with Jon Hume at The Stables studios in Gisborne, sessions on Great Keppel Island and on a boat.

The shell house is a heritage-listed building on Great Keppel Island off the coast of Rockhampton.

Early in their career Tom and Jeremy sat around campfires there and sang songs, one or two of which ended up on record.

Last year, with producer Jon Hume that same method in the same location produced songs for the album.

Busby Marou previously released a video for Paint This Land that was directed by Wayne Blair and Kate Halpin at Mt Tambourine in the Gold Coast hinterland.

It featured Wayne's father, Bob Blair - a Vietnam War veteran and first Aboriginal Regimental Sergeant Major in Australia - and actor Tony Barry.

Paint This Land acknowledged all soldiers who fought side by side, with attention to Indigenous soldiers who were sadly never recognised until significantly after.

The video celebrates Australia's rich history through themes of solidarity, reconciliation and hope.

Their aim was to pay homage to the past but look forward with a united and respectful vision; a timely sentiment as ANZAC Day commemorations approach.
