It's one of many highlights of double CD/DVD - DCX MMXV1 - released in September after a decade long hiatus. They played Rod Laver Arena on April 1 and 2 after headlining CMC Rocks Queensland in Ipswich with Little Big Town , Kip Moore and other major artists. Not Ready To Make Nice was penned by the trio with Dan Wilson about banning of their songs from country radio and freedom of speech. They teamed with Beyonce at the 50th CMA Awards in Nashville for a live rendition of her track Daddy Lessons blended with Dixie Chicks' Long Time Gone . Sisters Emily Strayer, 45, and mandolinist-fiddler sister Martie McGuire, 47, were in the original Dixie Chicks quartet that began in 1989 as Bluegrass Express with Laura Lynch on upright bass and guitarist Robin Lynn Macy Since singer Natalie Maines joined in 1995 they have sold 30 million albums and been prolific major award winners from seven studio albums, three live discs and string of live DVDs. MARGO PRICE WEAKNESS FOR BIKES AND BARS Margo Price returns to Nu Country with her vibrant video for Weakness - one of 12 songs she wrote for her second album All American Made, released on October 20. The former Ohio choir girl, 34, sold her wedding ring and car to finance previous album Midwest Farmer's Daughter. This time Price parked her bike at a Goodlettsville liquor store as her band waited in the car park and played on as the store became a crime and fire scene. Price is joined on her album by Shotgun Willie Nelson, now 84, and the McCrary Sisters. Margo also filmed in Willie's Luck chapel in his Texas movie town and played his July 4 picnics, Farm Aid and toured with him. She played piano, sang in a church choir, studied dance and theatre in tiny Ohio town Aledo before moving to Nashville at 20. She started Buffalo Clover with guitarist husband Jeremy Ivey and released three albums and fronted Margo & The Price-Tags whose members included Sturgill Simpson and Kenny Vaughan. Midwest Farmer's Daughter graphically depicted her 12 years of living hard in Nashville . "I used to write story-songs, about a couple robbing a bank or whatever," says Price whose dad worked as a prison guard after having to sell the family farm when she was two. "But I decided I'm going to go ahead and lay it all out on the line here. And it felt really good, really therapeutic." Price, who once spent a weekend in gaol on drink driving charges, says the late Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings are her biggest heroes. "A lot of times, people say, 'You're so much like Loretta or Tammy Wynette,'" says Price. "But I feel kind of like one of the men. I'm like David Allan Coe. I've been to prison, man! I think that's what separated me from the Kacey Musgraves, stuff like that. There's not a lot of glitter or girly bows and stuff." Price previously appeared on Nu Country with Hurting on the Bottle, Hands Of Time and live version of It's Not Drink Driving If You Are Riding a Horse. She joined a 4 wheel-drive trek The Drover's Run for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service that raised more than $200,000. Emma debuts on Nu Country with Two Birds - second single - from her debut album, Pay It Forward. The singer-songwriter said her song depicted the fight to fly again after a break-up, discovering strength and courage taking the victim to new heights. “My songs are the storybook of my life,” Emma revealed. “Every song has a tale attached and represents specific people, lessons, experiences and feelings I have encountered along the way. These songs are like listening to me sing you the pages of my photo album. I am sure they will hit a note close to home for you as well”. The first single from her album was Man Of The House - inspired by her grandparents. “I grew up with a big, loving, extended family, and our get-togethers have always been heart-warming and so much fun,” Emma explained. “My Nan and Pop have been my inspiration for true love, they were each other's first love and spent not a day apart until pop left us at 83 years old. Not only was he a proud supporter of my music from a young age, he was the centre-piece of our family and an example of the perfect, true blue gentleman. Man of the House is the story of his life, summed up in the space of a song.” Further info - https://emmadykes.com/ CODY CANADA , THE DEPARTED AND THE BRAUN BROTHERS Cody Canada and his band The Departed are joined by the Braun Brothers in our live Behind Bars segment as they honour Mark “Gus” McCoy of Austin alt-country band Micky & the Motorcars who died in 2012. They perform Allnighter at the famed John T Flores Country Store at Helotes near San Antone in the Texas hill country that has featured hot Texas music for more than 75 years. Cody and his band sit in chairs playing guitars, trading verses and remembering their friend. It plays out like a country wake where everyone is invited. Cody, now 41, hails from Pampa , Texas. He began playing guitar at eight before moving as a teenager with his family to Yukon , Oklahoma , where he discovered outlaw country. Cody created the Departed in 2011 after 10 albums with Cross Canadian Ragweed from 1994-2010. It was produced by Mark Lizotte, aka Diesel. “As with a lot of the album, Mark and I recorded most of Collide live in the studio with our excellent drummer Lee Moloney,” Imogen, 22, revealed. “I love the energetic, soulful vibe created when musicians record live. Mark's a truly brilliant producer who could hear things I never imagined but once they were added, it was as if they were always crying out to be there. I really enjoyed working with him on this song and the entire record. “ Collide is a good example of themes covered in the upcoming album, which is all about both the excitement and challenges of adulthood and learning more about yourself and those around you as you shed some of your previous naivete, for better or for worse." Imogen teamed on Collide with Jeremy Dylan who directed previous clips Drawing Hearts (2017), You'll Only Break My Heart (2016) and Take Me For A Ride (2015). Imogen has toured for five years with acts diverse as Shane Nicholson and Lizotte. Imogen wrote two songs on Dragonfly - the 11 th album by Kasey Chambers .
