OLD DOMINION SONG FROM ANOTHER TIME Virginian quintet Old Dominion reached back to an era of record players, juke boxes and 8 track tapes in Song From Another Time. The quintet, formed in Nashville in 2007 after writing hits for diverse other artists, perform and record as Old Dominion - the nickname of its home state Virginia Song From Another Time is on the band's debut album Meat & Candy, produced by Shane McAnally. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen on guitar and keyboard, drummer Whit Sellers, bassist Geoff Sprung and guitarist Brad Tursi had writing credits on many songs recorded by other artists. Ramsey co-wrote Chainsaw for The Band Perry , Trevor Rosen co-wrote Chris Young's Neon and The Band Perry's Better Dig Two. Tursi wrote Tyler Farr's A Guy Walks Into a Bar, songs for Kenny Chesney and Randy Rogers Band, and ABC musical drama, Nashville. Two songs written for the band by Ramsey and Rosen - Wake Up Lovin' You and Say You Do - were hits for Craig Morgan and Dierks Bentley. Old Dominion has since released No Such Thing as a Broken Heart that will appear on its second album this year. Ramsey, Rosen and Tursi wrote it with Jesse Frasure. "No matter who you are, where you live or your current status, people both old and young face more challenges than ever," said Ramsey. "It's in the face of those challenges and standing at the edge of fear that we have to remain positive. Focus on the light that comes from positivity instead of being swallowed up. Work hard at doing what you feel is right. Don't be scared. Live life like there's no such thing as a broken heart." Aubrie, just 26, is daughter of Texan singer Lee Ann Womack and former singing spouse Jason Sellers She was featured on Dr. Ralph's 2015 album, Ralph Stanley and Friends: A Man of Constant Sorrow , where she sang White Dove with her mother, Lee Ann. Many of the songs on New City Blues were co-written with Adam Wright - nephew of Georgian born superstar Alan Jackson. After honing her craft on-stage for several years, Sellers began working with veteran producer and stepfather Frank Liddell on songs that featured her voice midst electric guitars and attitude. Strong early singles Light of Day and Loveless Rolling Stone late 2015 preceded her 2016 debut album on Thirty Tigers label. “I prefer to create friction,” Aubrie revealed. “Because if you're not pushing buttons, you're just making something pleasant, it's probably been done before and it's not making anyone feel anything. “I'd rather my music be polarising than everyone like it, because they rarely do. I think passion is a lot deeper than that. I want to go deeper, and be honest that life isn't just some party and going out. I mean, don't people feel anything?” Further info - http://www.aubriesellers.com/ BRANTLEY GILBERT STONE COLD SOBER Georgian singer-songwriter Brantley Gilbert recovers in song in the ruins after a wild house party in his video for Stone Cold Sober. Lindi, now 36, played Meeniyan Hall, Northcote Social Club and Seaworks, Williamstown, on her fourth Australian tour last year. The singer was born in Toronto , moved to Nashville for five years and recently returned to Canada. She also recorded a four-song EP called Till The Goin' Gets Gone , released on March 17. Ortega recorded her EP in a converted East Nashville manor where therapy horses linger outside. She recorded it with longtime guitarist James Robertson and co-produced with Jay Tooke and Jason "Rowdy" Cope. “I thought I was done. Having done music since I was 16, it got to the point I couldn't pay the rent,” Lindi revealed. “When you make a carton of eggs last a week, it's time for a realisation that maybe I'm done. I left my former label, management, and just sat. I wasn't commercial. I'm not making money. But over a bottle of wine I sat at the piano and decided I'd write one more song. That's where the song Final Bow came from. I never thought it would see the light of day. But I woke up and realized there is something here.” Lindi thought Final Bow might be her final song but it became the first for the EP. The album also includes What A Girl's Gotta Do and cover of the late Townes Van Zandt's Waiting ‘Round To Die along with the title track. “I went into this project with the freedom to pretty much do what we want and if nothing else it motivated me to do something special,” Lindi confessed. “We recorded this in an old mansion and there was a vocal booth. We set up mikes in different formations but just didn't like it. So we went out for tacos. When we got back, still nothing. We had to use the restroom. Started singing in there and loved the acoustics. So we set up mikes in there and yep I sat on the toilet and did all the vocals there. I just loved the natural reverb and the fact that nobody said we couldn't do it that way. There are many things I loved about this project, the fact we made the music the way we wanted too.” Ortega was inspired by singing actor Jeff Bridges character Bad Blake in the Crazy Heart movie for Faded Gloryville , released in August, 2015.
