BIG & RICH DEFY GRAVITY

Controversial duo Big & Rich performs the colourful video for new single Look At You from fifth album Gravity.

They previously played CMC Rocks The Hunter and return for CMC Rocks Queensland in Ipswich in March.

Their Victorian debut with Tennessean baritone chart topper Chris Young is the Billboard club in Russell St in the Melbourne CBD on Wednesday March 11.

“This is a song that, when I heard it, I found the lyric a little of an unusual twist,” Big Kenny said.

“Because it's really, when you get into the beginning of the chorus, it feels like you're looking at the person you love and telling them how much you love them. Except they don't love you anymore in the song.”

John Rich wrote the song with fellow former Muzik Mafia member Shannon Lawson.

“We were just talking about, man have you ever been sitting somewhere, having a great time, and here she comes walking right in there, knowing you were going to be sitting there, and she comes in there looking like a million dollars, did it on purpose,” Rich revealed.

“You're going, ‘Yeah, that's me. I'm the idiot that let that go.'”

The video begins a story line that will unfold as more singles are released.

As the video ends, a message appears that says, “The Gravity Quadrilogy , Part Two Coming Soon .”

RICH O'TOOLE HONOURS UNCLE HANK

Houston and College Station raised singer-songwriter Rich O'Toole honours famous late uncle Hank Cochran in his song title-checking video for Uncle Hank .

Rich, now 31, used Cochran song titles to illustrate a story of past love in Uncle Hank on his fifth album Jaded .

He wrote it with Chris Monteverde and Suzi Cochran - nephew and widow of late-song-writing legend Hank.

Hank died at 74 in 2010 after writing more than 50 hits for peers diverse as Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Ray Price and George Strait .

Jaded was released in June 2014.

Rich wrote the title track with actor Evan Gamble when they escaped to Palm Springs to ride out the painful sense of defeat they felt after enduring similar breakups.

O'Toole is touring to promote his video for J aded , directed by Oden Roberts, whose movie, A Fighting Season , comes out in 2015.

The video was shot in Joshua Tree and Pioneertown , California , and illustrates the story that Rich and Evan penned.

O'Toole released debut album, Seventeen , in 2007 and second album In a Minute or 2, on October 21, 2008.

His third album Kiss of a Liar featured the duet with Josh Abbott titled Ay Dios Mio and cover of Wilco song Casino Queen with guest Pat Green.

O'Toole co-produced fourth album, Brightwork , with Damon and Ilya Toshinsky for his personal record label, PTO Records .

MAGGIE ROSE BLOOMS BETTER

Maryland born singer Maggie Rose lived up to her name in a cemetery before trying to kill the pain of a late partner in her video for Better from her debut album Cut To Impress .

Rose began her career under her birth name on her first EP.

Maggie, now 26, signed to Universal Republic in 2009 as Margaret Durante and released a cover of Kings of Leon's Use Somebody .

She left Republic , signed to indie Emrose - an imprint of James Stroud's Stroudavarious Records - and charted two singles and released digital EP, Maybe Tonight.

Maggie also recorded two songs featured in episodes of the Disney Channel's Shake It Up and Good Luck Charlie TV series and included on the Shake It Up: Break It Down soundtrack album released on July 12, 2011.

Durante changed her recording name to Maggie Rose in 2012 after signing with Scott Siman's RPM Management .

KAYLA ADAMS SOBER AND SORRY

Singer-songwriter Kayla Adams burns memories of an ex-lover who fled on weekends in her video for Sober & Sorry filmed in her home state Montana .

Kayla even set fire to her Lothario's guitar.

“It was inspired by an ex-boyfriend who had a bad habit of disappearing on weekends,” Adams, 24, says of the tune that mixes fiery memories of exes similar to Taylor Swift‘s Picture to Burn with angry revenge of Carrie Underwood‘s Before He Cheats .

The video was directed by Yarrow Kraner and produced by Huntley Ritter.

“The video concept was definitely a team effort, sort of beginning with my personal vision and then majorly built upon by people who actually make videos,” she revealed.

“The experience was a whole new one for me. It's definitely different performing to a camera instead of a crowd!”

Adams also lobbied to shoot it in her home state Montana with friends, family and locals as extras.

“It will be the first thing a lot of people see of me,” she says.

“It was important to me that they see where I'm from.”

Adams is working on her debut album - a mix of songs she's written and others she connected with.

“It is the most important thing on my plate right now,” she said.

“I am focused on being open-minded about songs and continuously working on making the project better and better until the moment it is finished.'”

Sober & Sorry was released on SSM Entertainment before her five-song EP.

Kayla spent years touring, solo and in bands, with acts diverse as Kellie Pickler, Rodney Atkins, LL Cool J, Karmin and Heidi Newfield.

After fronting Big Sky Country she decompressed in the great outdoors where she grew up fishing, hunting and snowboarding.

Adams packed up her Ford F-350 pickup and hit the road to play solo, often travelling for months.

Kayla slept in the camper on the back of her truck, with faithful Yorkshire terrier Tory acting as watchdog, as she sang in bars and supper clubs where she could find acoustic gigs.

“I went from Kalispell to Florida and back on one tour. I just figured out where I wanted to be and lined up a gig there. I have about 100 songs, mostly country, a mixture of original and covers and acoustic pop like Colbie Caillat and Sara Bareilles.”

DAMIAN HOWARD ONCE IN WHILE

Shipwreck Coast raised singer-songwriter Damian Howard returns with his video clip for third album title track Once In A While.

Howard used an old wireless as a prop during his journeys that included risking his life on a railway track.

It was not the long defunct railway line near Howard's hometown where the Warrnambool-Port Fairy train no long carries passengers or freight.

Damian was raised with his musical siblings in an historic cottage adjacent to the Nestles factory on the banks of the mighty Merri River at Dennington - a satellite suburb of Warrnambool.

Damian and his bands including the Plough Boys have long hoed their own music row like siblings Shane and Marcia.

The three Howard clan members reunited in December at the famed Eureka festival in Ballarat.

Once In A While features 15 tracks - 10 newly written songs and a couple of takes on older songs.

Damian recorded the album with his bush bred Band of Brothers - James Rust, Lee Sonnyboy Morgan, Declan O'Neill and Jon Emry.

Guests include siblings Shane and Marcia, Rose Bygrave, Richard Tankard, Peter Denahy, Anthony O'Neill, Kathy Mikkelsen, Ed Bates, Peter Fidler and Bob Phillipse.

Howard also features on drought relief Aussie Helpers album Send It Down Hughie 2.
