CARLENE CARTER HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV
Carlene Carter headlines Nu Country TV with a mini-documentary on her famed Carter Family on Thursday October 2 at 10.30 p m on Channel 33, Digital 44.
Fellow veterans Shotgun Willie Nelson and Asleep At The Wheel leader Ray Benson return to the show repeated Monday 5.30 am and 2.30 pm and Thursday 2.30 am.
Gippsland singer Harry Hookey debuts on the eve of his tour with Texan Ryan Bingham and Out On The Weekend festival at Seaworks, Williamstown, on October 18.
Georgian singer Kip Moore and Texan Randy Rogers also perform road songs on the program filmed and edited by Laith Graham.
Nu Country TV is a highlight of the C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

CARTER FAMILY TRAIN KEEPS ON ROLLING

Carlene Carter elaborates on her rich musical genetics before she performs the video for her latest single Little Black Train from her 10 th album Carter Girl . It's a handy flashback to a family that produced so many pioneers of the genre. In 1987 Carlene toured with the Carter Sisters - mother June Carter Cash and June's sisters Helen and Anita Carter. |
They formed a revived version of The Carter Family , and were featured on a 1987 television episode of Austin City Limits with Carter's stepfather Johnny Cash.
Carlene turned 59 last week and is enjoying her fourth marriage from 2006 with actor-writer Joseph Breen.
She has two children from her first two marriages dating back to 1971 with another Joseph - Simpkins - and Jack Wesley Routh in 1974.
But she had no children with third husband - singer-songwriter Nick Lowe whom she late wed in 1979 or late bassist partner Howie Epstein from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers .
She was played by Victoria Hester in the 2005 movie Walk the Line and had a cameo appearance in 1994 film Maverick as a waitress on the gambling casino ship run by Commodore Duvall (James Coburn.)

Asleep At The Wheel singer Ray Benson enlisted his little mate Willie Nelson for his new video It Ain't You from his second solo album A Little Piece . At the ripe young age of 63 Ray found an older soul-mate in Willie who turns 82 in April. The new album was co-produced by Lloyd Maines - dad of Dixie Chicks singer Natalie. |
In February 2009 Ray collaborated with Willie on Willie and the Wheel .
The concept album, originally suggested by producer Jerry Wexler, teamed Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel on several well-known Western Swing tunes.
Paul Shaffer and Vince Gill also perform on the album, nominated for a 2010 Grammy Award for Best Americana Album.
In 1991 Ray directed the music and co-starred in Wild Texas Wind movie with Dolly Parton and produced the soundtrack for another film Liar's Moon .
Shortly after co-founder and pedal steel guitarist Lucky Oceans moved to Fremantle they appeared in the 1980 movie Roadie , with Roy Orbison, Alvin Crow, Hank Williams Jr, Joe Ely, Ramblin Jack Elliott, Merle Kilgore, Hamilton Camp, Meat Loaf, Blondie, Alice Cooper and Art Carney.
Although he hasn't surpassed Willie in movies he appeared in Kinky Friedman novels and his band won nine Grammys and released Bob Wills tribute discs and a Wills stage show.

HARRY HOOKEY MISDIAGNOSED

Gippsland singer-songwriter Harry Hookey is roped by a beatific bounty hunter in the bad-lands in the video for Man On Fire - the first single from his debut album Misdiagnosed . The Cowarr born singer debuted with the Hookey Family Band and is joined by his dad and two of his brothers on his album. Harry is touring here this month with Texan Ryan Bingham - famed for his Oscar and Grammy winning hit The Weary Kind from Jeff Bridges movie Crazy Heart . They play Out On The Weekend Festival at Seaworks in Williamstown on October 18. |

RANDY ROGERS OUT ON THE INTERSTATE

Randy Rogers Band take a joyous journey down their Lost Highway in the video for Interstate from fifth album Burning The Day . The Red Dirt Texans have also released three live discs. Randy was born in Cleburne , Texas , and learned piano from his grandmother at the age of six and guitar at 12. His band recorded debut album, Live at Cheatham Street Warehouse - a famed music hall in San Marcos , Texas - and in 2002 released Like It Used to Be on indie label Downtime . |
The sequel Rollercoaster produced two Billboard chart songs in early 2005.
Rogers also co-wrote Somebody Take Me Home for Kenny Chesney's 2005 album, The Road and the Radio .
Several songs on Rollercoaster were co-written by Radney Foster, who also co-produced the album.
Just a Matter of Time was released on Mercury in 2006 and a self-titled album on September 23, 2008.
Burning the Day followed on August 24, 2010 on MCA - Too Late for Goodbye reached #47 on Billboard.
Sixth album Trouble in 2013 was followed by Home Made Tamales Live at Floore's Store in April this year.
The new single is Satellite .

KIP MOORE ON A DIRT ROAD

Kip Moore illustrates his memories of his childhood in a small Georgian town in his video for Dirt Road from his second album.
Kip knows all about hellfire and brimstone - he sang at 13 in the Tifton Baptist church where his mum was the organist.
Dirt Road follows Young Love as a single from his second album - sequel to 2012 debut disc Up All Night , best-selling debut disc by a male for 2012-2013.
Moore, now 34 and one of six children, was an avid surfer before choosing a music career - he wrote tunes for fellow young guns Thompson Square and James Wesley.
The singer also performs Lead Me on the soundtrack of new movie The Best Of Me , starring Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden, on October 17.
