JASON ALDEAN HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV ON EVE OF TOUR
Georgian star Jason Aldean headlines Nu Country TV this Saturday December 19 at 9.30 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44 on the eve of his debut Australian tour.
Texan Dale Watson also returns to Behind Bars as part of our small towns double shot on a show repeated Monday 5.30 am and 2.30 pm, Wednesday 7.30 am and Thursday 3 am.
Latter day Californian Sam Outlaw also performs in a ghost town on the program hosted by expat Californian Mid Pacific Bob Olson.
Oklahoma red dirt singer Stony LaRue returns to the program filmed and edited by Laith Graham.
Texan Ronnie Dunn, who toured here twice with Kix Brooks, and Blue Mountains belle Jayne Denham perform songs with trucking metaphors and themes.
Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

JASON JUST GETTING STARTED ON MARGARET'S TENNIS COURT

Georgian Jason Aldean performs his video for Just Getting Started from sixth album Old Boots, New Dirt Road that is accompanied by a live concert DVD Night Train To Georgia.
Aldean's video acting was enhanced by a role in the historic Sweetwater movie with Ed Harris and January Jones.
Sweetwater, released as Sweet Vengeance in the UK, is a 2013 American thriller western film directed by Logan Miller and co-written with Andrew McKenzie and Noah Miller.
It also stars Jason Isaacs, Eduardo Noriega and Stephen Root.
The movie is set in the late 1800s with a beautiful ex-prostitute trying to build an honest life with her husband in the rugged plains of New Mexico.
Aldean performs at Margaret Court Arena on Tuesday March 8 with fellow tourists Florida Georgia Line before a Sydney concert en route to CMC Rocks Queensland in Ipswich after a U.S. tour starting January 14 with Thomas Rhett and A Thousand Horses .
Aldean, 38, and childhood sweetheart wife Jessica Ussery - mother of his two daughters - split on April 26, 2013.
On March 21 he wed American Idol singer Brittany Kerr.
Aldean owns hunting company Buck Commander and 1300 acres of land outside Nashville - Black Jack Ridge.
Jason's new record company Sony has also released his entire recording catalogue from a decade long career on indie label Broken Bow.

DALE WATSON RETURNS TO LUCKENBACH

Alabama born, long time Texan Dale Watson celebrates a famous tiny town in his live video for Everybody Is Somebody In Luckenbach. The tourist retreat, shot to fame by the late Hondo Crouch, has an official population of just three but mushrooms at weekends. It was made famous by the late Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson in their 1977 hit Luckenbach, Texas , penned by Chips Moman and Buddy Emmons. The new tune, also celebrated on a popular tee shirt, is on Dale's 28th album Call Me Insane. That was long after horror movie The Naked Witch was filmed in Luckenbach in 1960. Thrice wed Dale, who has toured here several times, owns two Texas saloons and is now making his fourth movie Yellow Rose. He appeared with David Carradine in 2007 Zalman King movie Austin Angel and in 2012 he starred in Stephen King-John Mellencamp musical Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. |
He also appeared in 2014 movie Two Step with Jesse Dayton - that was 11 years after he debuted with Sandra Bullock in Bluebird Café movie The Thing Called Love that featured the late River Phoenix, Samantha Mathis, Dermot Mulroney, K.T. Oslin, Kevin Welch, Trisha Yearwood, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Katy Moffatt and Pam Tillis.

SAM OUTLAW VISITS GHOST TOWN

Sam Outlaw rides through an equally haunting locale in his evocative new video less than 12 months after his Australian tour that include the quaint Meeniyan Town Hall, Out On The Weekend festival at Williamstown and Northcote Social Club.
Outlaw's Ghost Town is on his Ry Cooder produced debut album Angeleno.
The singer, born Sam Morgan in South Dakota, borrowed his mother's maiden name Outlaw for his music career and moved with his Christian family to California at the age of 10.
Outlaw had a successful advertising career until his 30th birthday when he experienced "an existential crisis moment" and realised that only music has ever made him feel anything.
He self-released an EP in 2014 and landed slots at Stagecoach Festival in California and the Americana Festival in Nashville.
“The music I play, I call 'SoCal country,'” says Outlaw who has toured with Kentucky born singing actor Dwight Yoakam and Texan Clint Black.
“It's country music but with a Southern California spirit to it. What is it about Southern California that gives it that spirit, I don't exactly know. But there's an idea that I like that says - every song, even happy songs, are written from a place of sadness. If there's a special sadness to Southern California it's that there's an abiding shadow of loss of what used to be. But then, like with any place, you have a resilient optimism as well.”
His album's 12 tracks include Who Do You Think You Are? I'm Not Jealous, Love Her For A While, Old Fashioned and Jesus Take The Wheel And Drive Me To A Bar.

STONEY LARUE FLYING FEET

Stoney Larue returns with his video for Feet Don't Touch The Ground from seventh album Us Time.
Video clips and photos are interspersed in the black-and-white video, and LaRue and his band enjoying themselves in the studio.
“We got moonlight, all night /Lord, I pray on the next star I see tonight /never lose this thing we found,” LaRue sings.
“You by my side, I can do without the city lights / I fly so high when you're around / my feet don't touch the ground.”
Feet Don't Touch the Ground is the third track on Us Time that also features covers of Jimmy Webb penned Glen Campbell hit Wichita Lineman, Gary Stewart's Empty Glass, Van Morrison's Into The Mystic.
“I am excited, honoured, blessed and extremely elated that I get this opportunity to work with the people I do and that the fans gave me their ideas on what they wanted to see from me on this record,” says LaRue.
“It is their record, and I am honoured to be the voice.”
Stoney, born Stoney Larue Phillips, is a Texas Red Dirt artist.
"I was named after my grandfather on my mother's side,” the singer, now 37, revealed.
“His middle name was LaRue. And Stoney came from a TV show, this Stoney Burke character, who used to be a cowboy on TV. My father was flipping through the TV Guide, and they were like, Stoney LaRue! That sounds good.' What are you smoking?! I've gotten so many nicknames and questions about my name. But it's made me who I am, for sure. You have to definitely wear the monkey suit."
Stoney was born in Taft, Texas, raised in Southeastern Oklahoma and moved to college town Stillwater where he played bars with his brother, Bo Phillips.
In 2002 LaRue led The Organic Boogie Band and released Downtown , recorded in private sessions at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.
His 2005 follow-up, The Red Dirt Album , was followed by Live at Billy Bob's Texas .

RONNIE DUNN SEARCHES FOR TEXAS TRUCKS

Ronnie Dunn returns with a travelogue to illustrate a trucking metaphor. Ain't No Trucks is on his third solo album, on Nash Icon , long after he toured here twice with Kix Brooks as Brooks & Dunn. The sardonic song, written by Wendell Mobley, Tony Martin and Neil Thrasher, is perfect launch pad for his new album. “We really wanted to do something simple and poignant,” Dunn revealed. “Relationships are tough, and it is not always easy to express your feelings. This song signifies how it is easier to let a relationship end than tell someone how you really feel.” The video, directed by Peter Zavadil, shows Dunn singing at night, while the ending of a relationship unfolds in a small town. “It's a song about male pride,” says Zavadil. “It's not about trucks, whiskey or a variety of cliches. It's about a guy with a broken heart fighting to play it down.” |
Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts produced the track - a staple in his live shows.
“I haven't been this excited about new music in a while,” Dunn says of the song.
“And I am definitely looking forward to performing this song live for fans.”

TRUCKIE'S DAUGHTER HEADS WEST

Jayne Denham - daughter of a truck driving man - was raised in the transport industry. That makes her well qualified to perform her video for Grew Up Around Trucks from her new EP Renegade 2 - Rockin' With Ned. She celebrates the families of truckies who keep this country moving. “Touring around Australia, I often perform at trucking events and have noticed how it really is a generational career,” says Jayne. “The song means a lot to me because I see how the passion for trucking has been passed on through my own family and I can see that in my audience too” Jayne recorded her song with Garth Porter at his Rancom Studio in Sydney. Denham deepened her rural roots by moving to the bush and writing about her genetic love of trucks, cowgirls and bone crunching sports - rodeo and roller derby. |
One of her songs Shelter is a tribute to video director husband and writing partner Paul with whom she moved to a 10 acre farm-let at Hartley west of the Blue Mountains several years ago.
