The eight-time CMA Awards co-host and Carrie Underwood have plenty of comedic material when they front the awards show on November 4. "This election has been just amazing. They give us sound-bites - we can't keep up," Paisley joked. "And God bless, I guess that's that wrong thing to say, but God bless the Ashley Madison website hack, for many reasons." Country musicians are well qualified to parody a cheating website. CLICK HERE for a Brad Paisley CD review in The Diary on September 15, 2014. CARRIE UNDERWOOD CLAN CELEBRATE SMOKE BREAK Oklahoma oriole Carrie Underwood exudes empathy in her celebration of working women. Carrie sings about why work slaves need a well- earned break from their chains in her video for Smoke Break from her fifth album Story Teller, released on October 23 . “The song itself is one of those story songs I feel like everybody can relate to, about how life is so hectic,” Underwood revealed. “And it's so nice when - if and when - you actually get to step away for a second. We all need that, and we all need that time to ourselves and to get to take a break.” Smoke Break was written by Underwood with Hillary Lindsey and Chris DeStefano, and it was produced by Jay Joyce. The singer, now 32, wed Nashville Predators hockey star Mike Fisher and gave birth to her first child Isaiah on February 27. Carrie admitted that when her son Isaiah was three months old that she'd written a song about him for her new album. She played Carrie Underworm in an episode of Sesame Street and starred in the coveted role of Maria von Trapp in NBC's live broadcast of The Sound of Music , based on the original Broadway musical. Bentley's homage to Nashville mother Amy Thomas who rose above poverty to raise two young daughters is the title track of his eighth album. “I really wanted this video to reflect the risers among us,” Bentley revealed. “So, when it came to casting, it was important to me that the storyline follow something real - no acting.” Bentley was inspired by a 60 Minutes segment on families living out of their cars, and with the help of video director Wes Edwards, the clip features Amy who was in that exact situation. Edwards met her through Safe Haven - a Nashville-based program providing housing to needy families - and Bentley decided to tell her inspirational story. “The first thing I thought when I met Amy was you would have never known that she had been living out of her car with two kids and nowhere to go,” Dierks explained. “Hearing her story is such a solid example that there are people we pass all around us every day who are going through tough times. It's dedicated to all the Risers.” The black and white video chronicles Amy and her children moving out of their home into their car and trying to carry on normal life in those extremely tough circumstances. Homework was done in the vehicle, the family washed up in public bathrooms and Amy fought to find a roof over her children's heads. With the help of Safe Haven Family Shelter , Amy was able to return into her own home and receive critical education, support and guidance. Dierks, who has also recorded a bluegrass disc, toured here in March, 2012, with Lee Kernaghan, and turns 40 on November 20. Lindi, 35, was born in Toronto and lives in Nashville. She has toured here several times and was inspired by singing actor Jeff Bridges character Bad Blake in the Crazy Heart movie for her fifth album Faded Gloryville, released in August. She released debut album Everything I Need in 2007 with producer Radford - first single Til I Find Me Again was written with 2007 Golden Guitar winner McAlister. Drew also performed a duet with her on Sometimes You Just Know that won them a 2008 TIARA Award for Vocal Collaboration. “I always draw from personal experience when I'm writing, but I think the most important thing as a songwriter is to make those emotions and stories universal, so that they connect with everyone who hears the songs,” Rose said. “I've been through a lot in my life, but there is always a positive side to every difficult experience - you emerge a much stronger and more understanding person. The important thing is to embrace life, to live every moment and appreciate its richness and diversity.” “My songs are raw, earthy and emotional - but most of all they're real. They come from a very heartfelt place, and I think that comes across on the album. “For me, the song is the boss - it dictates the recording, the performance. Whether I've written a song or not, the really important thing is that it makes a connection with both me, and those who are listening to it.” These are the songs of a woman who's lived life, experienced its joys and disappointments and been able to assimilate the lessons she's learnt. Black Sky is title track of Drew's debut ABC Records solo album, produced by Ben Robertson, out this month. Drew, born in Narrabri and raised in Moree, released three albums with Troy Kemp as McAlister Kemp. Black Sky is a tribute to Australians who inhabit rural areas and endure hardships that accompany living on the land. “It seems that at any given time in Australia's history drought has had its claws firmly embedded within our outback culture”, said Drew. “Both my Mum and Dad come from properties near the Weemelah [Ardblair] and Garah [Wattombri] regions in rural Australia, and the effect of drought is in our family history. I'm not on a farm but I can see the devastation drought causes is not going away any time soon”. McAlister Kemp toured the United States with country stars Big & Rich. Drew's song-writing earned him two Golden Guitars for co-writing Luke O'Shea's Lady Of The Land album title track and he is also a member of Adam Brand's new band The Outlaws with Matt Cornell, Michael Carr and Travis Collins.
