LEE ANN WOMACK HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV
Texan troubadour Lee Ann Womack headlines Nu Country TV this Saturday October 24 at 10.30 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44.
California born singer-songwriter comedienne Kacey Jones also returns to the show she once hosted with a timely parody of billionaire buffoon and presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Expat Queenslander 8 Ball Aitken also exudes comedy in his spoof of worker exploitation on the program repeated Monday 5.30 am and 2.30 pm, Wednesday 7.30 am and Thursday 3 am.
Californian Jon Pardi and Wisconsin band Horse Shoes & Hand Grenades appear live in Behind Bars, filmed and edited by Laith Graham.
And Canadian singer-songwriter Whitney Rose performs in a bar in a video filmed in her homeland.

LEE ANN WOMACK SENDS IT ON DOWN

Lee Ann Womack pleads for a better deal in the after-life in Send It On Down from her eighth album The Way I'm Living.
Lee Ann, 49, performed at the 2015 Americana Festival with recent Nu Country TV guests including Sam Outlaw, Whitey Morgan and Raised By Eagles .
The six-time CMA winner is finalist in this year's female vocalist of Year - 15 years ago she won her first for I Hope You Dance.
That same year George Strait and Alan Jackson's version of Larry Cordle-Larry Shell penned satiric Murder on Music Row , featuring her harmonies, won Song of the Year.
The Way I'm Living , produced by second husband Frank Liddell, is her first album in six years.
“That news hit me pretty hard in the heart,” Lee Ann says about the nomination.
She was driving to her mother's house in east Texas when she received the call.
“I am and always will be a country music singer. It's what I do. It's what I love and it's the thing that truly makes me feel alive. Having the CMA recognise that after the year I've had since The Way I'm Living came out really does my heart good.”
Womack, daughter of a small town Texan DJ, won a Grammy with Willie Nelson for their 2002 duet, Mendocino County Line.
In October 2010 during her solo recording hiatus Womack sang Liars Lie on the Tim McGraw-Gwyneth Paltrow Country Strong movie soundtrack.
Lee Ann played a sheriff - Chief Deputy Claire Wades in a small East Texas town in another movie Noble Things .
Womack credits her writers for aiding her success in both CMA and Americana awards.
“When you get songwriters like Julie Miller, Hayes Carll, Adam Wright, Mando Saenz and Mindy Smith, Neil Young, Bruce Robeson, Brent Cobb, Brennan Leigh and Kenny Price, who wrote Tomorrow Night in Baltimore for Roger Miller, it's not letting those writers down,” Womack says.
“What they bring inspires me. This nomination is as much about them as anyone.”
Ironically, Lee Ann is competing for the CMA award with fellow Texan Miranda Lambert who shares her husband Frank as producer.
It's a far cry from Belmont University in Nashville where she met and wed singer-songwriter Jason Sellers in 1990.
They divorced in 1996 - five years after they had a daughter Aubrie Lee.
Womack gave birth to second daughter, Annalise Liddell, in January 1999 after marrying Liddell.

KACEY JONES GETS INSIDE DONALD TRUMP'S TOWERING INFERNO

Kacey Jones takes viewers inside Donald Trump's Towering inferno - his hair - in her video for Donald Trump's Hair.
Kacey celebrates her 65 th year on this planet by resurrecting the video - also title track of her 2009 album - with a major blitz of American TV and radio as the Trump tresses came tumbling down.
The singer also hosted Nu Country TV in 2006, from the Mickey Newbury festival in Austin , Texas - the same year she released Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury .
The California born comedienne has long mixed humour and pathos in her 11 albums.
Kacey and Oklahoma born Becky Hobbs headlined the 2008 Nu Country TV concert at the Noise Bar, Brunswick , before entertaining passengers on the Tamworth Train from Geelong and in Tamworth .
When I first interviewed Kacey in Nashville in 1988 she performed acoustic for 3RRR-FM radio show High In The Saddle with her trio Ethel & The Shameless Hussies .
Now, 27 years down the Lost Highway that brought Kacey to Tamworth and way beyond with Becky, she returns to Nu Country TV .
Born near Gilroy - “garlic capital of the world” - she released latest album Amen For Old Friends in 2014.
She also produced Pearls In The Snow - her all-star 1999 tribute disc for singing septuagenarian crime novelist Kinky Friedman.
Kacey's other classics include Never Wear Panties to a Party (2001), The Sweet Potato Queens' Big-Ass Box of Music (2003), Every Man I Love Is Either Married, Gay or Dead - Live (2005) and Nipples to the Wind (2007)

8 BALL AITKEN SEVEN BUCKS AN HOUR IN A CHICKEN SUIT

8 Ball Aitken escaped 7-11 heaven by satirising poorly paid entertainers in his aptly timed latest video released for his Australian tour.
He parodied fowl play in Seven Bucks An Hour in A Chicken Suit is from his eighth album The New Normal .
8-Ball's chickens came home to roost before being tied up and stuffed with a little help from his Bar-B Cuties .
The former Atherton Tablelands banana picker and sugar cane cutter tours here over spring and summer to promote his new album.

WHITNEY ROSE FINDS CHIVALRY DEAD

Canadian chanteuse Whitney Rose debuts with a song created on a Nova Scotia farm with a cowboy and her horse named Marty.
Whitney, 28, rose above line dancers at the Grand Ole Cameron House under the gaze of Willie Nelson & Marty in Chivalry is Dead from her 2012 debut album.
Rose was raised on classic country at her grandparents' bar in Charlottetown .
She promoted second album Heartbreaker Of The Year , produced by Mavericks singer-songwriter Raul Malo in Toronto in just four days, at the recent Americana festival in Nashville .
Whitney duets with Raoul on their cover of 1963 Ronettes hit Be My Baby , written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and producer Phil Spector.
"Singing with Raul on Be My Baby was daunting, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't have doubts about the duet," Rose revealed.
"But I'm really proud of how it turned out. It can be tough to cover songs effectively especially songs as celebrated as Be My Baby . I think we accomplished that. I would have to be either lazy or stupid to not take advantage of getting to work alongside these guys and I am neither of those things. I initially thought that Raul's mentorship would cap at touring, but during a western Canadian jaunt last spring I had written enough new material for a record so I asked him to produce it - with very little expectation. When he said yes I was so excited but also really relieved because I felt I still had so much to learn from him."
Malo was equally enthused.
"I love this record," adds Malo.
"I'm honoured to have played a part in making it. The songs are so strong no one could ruin them, not even me."

JON PARDI BACK ON THE BACK ROADS

Californian singer-songwriter Jon Pardi reined a horse theme with help from his dog, fillies and music mates in his latest video clip.
Back On The Back Roads is on the second album by the 30-year-old Californian - his sequel to Write You A Song .
Californian Jon Pardi visited the Whiskey Bent Saloon in Nashville to film a for previous single What I Can't Put Down.
Pardi got breaks touring with Arizona bluegrass and country star Dierks Bentley who played St Kilda Palais with Aussie country king Lee Kernaghan on March 13, 2012.
Unlike concert guests - Carlton footballers Andrew Walker and David Ellard and St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt - Pardi kicks different goals.
Pardi grew up in Dixon but ignited his career at Butte Junior College in Chico where he started Northern Comfort and moved to Nashville on February 23, 2008, with his dog, PA system and $7,000 savings.
He used a credit card to pay for lifeguard training to earn money until he landed a publishing deal 18 months later.
Two early collaborations Write You a Song and Fighting The Fool landed him his contract.

HORSESHOES AND HAND GRENADES

Wisconsin quintet Horseshoes and Hand Grenades found a backwoods retreat for fishing and fiddling at Stevens Point in their home state.
They also visited the Elbow Room to perform Whiskey from their second album This Old Town .
The band hails from the river town of Stevens Point , Wisconsin , and plays progressive high-energy old-time folk music with strong roots in old-time and bluegrass.
Horseshoes and Hand Grenades earliest shows were in the spring of 2010.
Since then, the band has shared the stage with the Travelling McCourys, Railroad Earth, Infamous Stringdusters , Yonder Mountain String Band , Charlie Parr, .357 String Band and other roots artists.
Their inspirations include rivers, valleys, good friends, good drink and life's never-ending adventures.
