RANDY HOWARD PROVES GOD DOESN'T HANG OUT IN NASHVILLE
Outlaw country singer Randy Howard, who was killed inside his Lynchburg cabin home on June 9 by bounty hunters, headlines Nu Country TV this Saturday August 1 at 10.30 pm on Channel 31/Digital 44.
Howard, a staple in our Nu Country FM era at Beer Can Hill in Northcote, performs two historic songs in Behind Bars .
Former Sandringham Baptist preacher's daughter and jillaroo Harmony James returns with her new strident social comment video about the invasion of coal seam gas on fertile farming land on the show repeated Monday 5.30 am and 2.30 pm, Wednesday 7.30 am and Thursday 3 a.m.
Thrice wed Californian surfing cowboy Gary Allan and Missouri minstrel Tyler Farr return with more advice on hangovers and alcoholic metaphors for ruptured romance.
Texan troubadour James McMurtry also showcases his vintage homeless parable on the program filmed and edited by Laith Graham.

RANDY HOWARD DOUBLE SHOT BECOMES A SIX PACK BEHIND BARS

Georgian born outlaw country singer Randy Howard had no warning before he was shot dead in Lynchburg, Kentucky, that he would share his death locale with the birthplace of Jack Daniels Whiskey.
Lynchburg was where Randy, 65, drew his last breath on June 9 when a father and son bounty hunting team killed him in a gunfight in his home.
The bounty hunters came calling over traffic warrants but turned the gunfight into a Tennessee killing field.
As Randy lay dying he told police he opened fire on the intruders as he thought they were burglars.
Randy fired one shot - the bounty hunters got off 6 rounds
It was prophetic.
Randy performed a live version of his song God Don't Live in Nashville in this week's show.
He also revived his song I Don't Know also recorded by Hank Williams 111 - son of Hank Jr and grandson of the late country pioneer Hank Williams who died at 29 in the back of Cadillac on New Year's Day, 1983, en route to a gig.
Ironically Randy was finishing a gospel album A Pair Of Knees before he went to God.
Randy is best known here for his 1983 vinyl album All American Redneck whose songs enjoyed a rebirth on CD.
He twice wrote to Nu Country producer David Dawson in 1990 to thank him for airplay on High In The Saddle on 3RRR-FM after singing actor and Glen Iris house guest Joe Sun alerted him to radio exposure after an Aussie tour that climaxed at Paul Madigan's Druids Lodge in Brunswick .

HARMONY JAMES WARNS ABOUT COAL SEAM GAS

Baptist preacher's daughter Harmony James fires her own sermon on the mount on the invasion of fertile farm land by coal seam gas drillers.
Harmony's Coal Seam Gas is on her acclaimed third CD Cautionary Tales.
Sandringham born Harmony, 37, played St Kilda Palais with Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell on June 25.
Harmony is well qualified to sing of ravages inflicted on our pastures and water supplies by avaricious armies drilling coal seam gas.
The fifth of 12 children worked as beef cattle researcher and jillaroo before being rescued by the Flying Doctor when bucked from a horse near Charleville in outback Queensland .
Harmony worked as welder, ringer and other labour intensive jobs on cattle stations of the Barkly Tablelands to Cape York to Tennant Creek before chancing her voice as a singer in Goondiwindi.
Unlike fellow Golden Guitarist and Sydney singer-songwriter Luke O'Shea and his dad Rick, 71, she wasn't arrested for coal seam gas protests.
Luke and Rick were arrested after Luke locked himself to a water pump to disrupt work at Whitehaven Coal's Maules Creek mine in January.
It was the week after he won three Golden Guitar awards including Male Artist of the Year in Tamworth.
Whitehaven Coal uses the large pump to draw water from the Namoi River to wash the coal extracted from its $767 million mine, which entered production late last year.
O'Shea said he had a deep personal connection to the area as Rick was born and raised on a property on the banks of the Namoi River.
"Knowing that a mining company was sucking water out of the Namoi River near where I grew up was very painful for me," he said.
"Fresh and abundant water is the lifeblood of country Australia and I couldn't sit by and do nothing while it was being wasted on washing coal.
"Australian country musicians have a strong tradition of standing up for people in the bush and singing the songs that highlight the strength and mateship found during hardship, be it through war, natural disasters or taking on large multinational mining companies."
"Farmers in this area are screaming out, they need to be heard and they are needing to be supported and that's what my father and I are doing. I'm not anti-mining whatsoever.
"I know it's integral to Australia and our future, but I think the vision of Australia is very poor at the moment and just totally dependent upon the mining.
"It's just idiocy that this should be allowed to go ahead. These are our key food bowls and we are blessed with this black soil. We don't need it here.
"There are already established communities who are dependent on coal mining."

Texan troubadour James McMurtry returns to Nu Country with his video for Ain't Got A Place at the ripe old age of 53. His homeless song is on his 12th CD Complicated Game. James also sang with Kentuckian singing actor Dwight Yoakam in the Buzzin' Cousins on the soundtrack of John Mellencamp movie Falling From Grace - based on one of many best-selling books by famed dad Larry McMurtry. GARY ALLAN – WHY NO HANGOVER TONIGHT

California born surfing cowboy Gary Allan reveals why he chose nocturnal love ahead of whiskey on his new video for Hangover Tonight from his 10th CD. Allan, thrice wed at 47, played St Kilda Palais last year with The Mavericks. He wasn't wearing a kilt. That was guitarist Jaime Hanna - son of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band bassist Jeff. Resurrection has been a tough and long task for Allan. It was a single gunshot wound that took the life of third wife Angela just after midnight on October 25, 2004. Texan born Angela pulled the fatal trigger but the ricochet fuelled morose songs by latter day Nashville widower Gary - father of six children. |
Allan exorcised grief in songs about the aftermath of tragedy on sixth album Tough All Over and seventh disc Living Hard.
His aptly titled ninth album Set You Free ploughed a fertile terrain that shot it to #1 on the Billboard all genre Top 200 chart on debut with 106,000 sales.
A major catalyst was chart topping hit single Every Storm Runs Out Of Rain - one of five tunes he wrote.

TYLER FARR – ICE BATHS AND WITHDRAWALS

Missouri minstrel Tyler Farr had an ice bath to psyche himself for his video for Withdrawals - an apt metaphor for ruptured romance from his second album Suffer In Peace that peaked at #7 on Billboard. "The song has so much tension and angst," says Farr, 31. "It's like the guy is going through withdrawals over a woman, and there's nothing he can do about it." Farr sequestered himself in a single room to film the video, trapping himself inside a glass box and, eventually, submerging himself in water. It might have been akin to water torture. Directed by Eric Welch, Withdrawals opens with a mega-close-up on Farr's open eye. It was written by Josh Kear, Gordie Sampson and Hillary Lindsey, and furthers the introspective theme of Suffer in Peace. He previously showcased his videos for new tune A Guy Walks Into A Bar and Whiskey In My Water from debut disc Redneck Crazy that reached #28. |
Farr explored the allure of hard liquor in the basement of his favourite distillery in the latter before driving his trusty truck on a dirt road.
Video guests were fellow artists Colt Ford, Lee Brice and Willie Robertson from the Duck Dynasty TV show.
Darius Rucker also snagged Duck Dynasty stars for his video of Wagon Wheel - the song penned by Bob Dylan and updated by Old Crow Medicine Show when they recorded it.
Farr also co-wrote songs Hey Y'all for Colt Ford and She's Just Like That for Joe Nichols.
In early 2012 Farr released debut single Hot Mess, written with Georgian Rhett Akins, and moved to Columbia to release second single Hello Goodbye .
