MIKE RYAN WASTES NO WHISKEY Texan Mike Ryan reveals why he is sparing with Lynchburg whiskey on women in his new video for Waste No Whiskey. It's on the San Antone born singer's third album Bad Reputation - his sequel to 2012 album Night Comes Falling, Ryan, 29, wrote the song with Brent Anderson and Frank Rogers. “We actually started the writing session trying to chase down another idea but we got stuck, so we pushed through our writers block using an old fashioned remedy that folks have been doing for years: booze - more specifically, Jack Daniels,” Ryan revealed. “We started reading the label and did a little research about the whiskey making process. Then we got to talking about the best situations for drinking it and of course the big reason to not drink it. It turned out to be one of my favourite songs on the album.” Ryan moved to Fort Worth several years ago to earn a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of North Texas . Although he hasn't joined fellow Texan Willie in becoming a spokesman for cannabis legalisation he wrote Red Eye Flight with Anderson and Chris Dubois. “That song was gonna make the final cut come hell or high water,” confessed Ryan who wrote all 10 songs on his album. “We couldn't wait to put it out there. It's an easy-going song that I would want to listen to if I was going to light up as long as I wasn't driving around or doing anything important, of course. We wanted to talk about smoking weed without coming out and saying what it was. The song is sort of an innuendo machine.” Ryan traces his musical genetics back to grandfather Paul who directed the Texas National Guard Band for over 20 years.
