DAVE'S
DIARY - 17/8/09 - PREVIEW OF EPISODE 11 - SERIES 12
HORSE
SHAKES LONDONDERRY TOWN
Londonderry
lass Jayne Denham proves she can lead a horse to beer - not water - as
she headlines Nu Country TV this Saturday August 22 on C 31.
Jayne also made it drink at the North Richmond Hotel on the outskirts
of the Sydney penal colony in the video for the title track of her second
indie album Shake This Town.
If you miss Saturday's show hosted by Heather Rutherford at 9.30 p m it's
repeated Tuesday at 3.30 am and Wednesday at 3.30 p m.
Denham entrees for Trick Pony refugee Heidi Newfield, former jackeroo
James Blundell, Oklahoma oriole Carrie Underwood, Kansas chanteuse Martina
McBride and some other special guests.
We also have exclusive live studio footage of Matt Joe Gow & The Dead
Leaves performing Come What May from debut CD The Messenger.
LADY
JAYNE - A COWGIRL IN DENHAM
|
Denham
won wide acclaim for a prolific output of adventurous video clips
since bursting on the scene in 2006.
She also showcases a fleet of classic cruisers with a dash of twin
fiddles.
The urban cowgirl connects with her country-starved audiences on songs
about women in Utes and trucks living on diesoline dreams.
She also wrote about a disastrous Ute drag race between Emu Plains
and Newcastle men.
The singing hairdresser hails from Londonderry north of sin city and
is a keen train song purveyor. |
She wrote
evocative tune Soldier's Letter about a Sydney couple whose marriage
was sparked by a 1941 train trip.
Jayne also delves into social comment about impact of freeways on country
towns.
With the three women outnumbering the boys in her band she's the focal
point of a rocking country outfit.
Denham co-wrote eight songs on her disc that features tunes by producer
Garth Porter and Colin Buchanan.

"Duncan Tombs filmed it at Sing Sing and it's been on CMC, Rage &
also Juice in New Zealand," Pollock revealed.
"We also have Greg from a band called Ryder who played lap steel
in the video," Gow added.
"We were going to ask Catherine Britt to be in the video. We have
also been filming live footage for At The Bar and rehearsal footage."
Britt sang on angst anthems Things Fall Apart and At The Seams
- highlight of his CD.

CARRIE
UNDERWOOD
Oklahoma
refugee Carrie Underwood, just 26, earned a cool $14 million last year
long after winning American Idol.
She performs the video for Just A Dream from second album Carnival
Ride.
The singer hurt her leg jogging but wasn't chasing former beaus - Ottawa
Senators hockey ace Mike Fisher or Dallas Cowboys quarter back Tony Romo.
Carrie, first woman to win the Academy Of Country Awards entertainer of
year in April, fell during a three-mile run near her Nashville home.

MARTINA
MCBRIDE
|
Kansas
born Martina McBride has enjoyed longevity since learning the ropes
with family band The Shifters in her home state.
She performs the video for Ride off her 10th album Shine
that topped the Billboard all genre Top 200 chart on debut.
The 43-year-old mother of two now has her own wine line from famed
Napa Valley - ancestral home of our chef Mid Pacific Bob Olson.
She recently struck a deal with Blackbird Vineyard to issue a Martina
McBride signature series wine.
She has also been writing new music she hopes will land in an upcoming
film.
"I wrote this song with Rachel Thibodeaux and Tommy Lee James,
and it just seems like it fits a movie, so we're trying to pitch
it to some movie people," Martina says.
"The
title is Unbreakable. We don't have a particular movie in
mind. We're just getting a really good demo so we could go out there
and let people hear it, and see if they want to put it in their
movie.
|
I've had
a song in a film, but not a song that I've written. I Love You
was in Runaway Bride and There You Are was in Where The
Heart Is, but those songs were pulled off of albums, and I thought
it would be fun to record a song specifically for a movie."
McBride produced her new album with Dan Huff - studio boss for expat Australasian
superstar Keith Urban.

BLUNDELL

James
Blundell exploits the timbre of his voice in a video for Good Wood
from his ninth album Portrait of A Man - a celebration of his
rural roots.
Blundell hooked up with Gippsland born icon Mick Thomas in writing
sessions for his new disc.
James, 44 and father of two sons, went on the front foot when he courted
Australian Idol belle Jesse Curran, 25, before splitting with second
wife Lydia.
