JAMES BLUNDELL
|
Former
Mortlake jackeroo and Northern Territory stockman James Blundell returns
to
Nu Country with a video for Nature's Gentleman from ninth album
Ring Around The Moon.
Blundell wrote the song about Ernie Charles Collins was born in Drake,
NSW in 1928.
"He attended school until grade four, then was taken out of the
education system, and began work for his father in a traditional shaft
gold mine," Blundell revealed.
"He was underground, up to his knees in water, with a miner's
lamp and pick for company. Right from an early age, he displayed a
keen sense of individuality, which led him to look for something better
in life. A jack-of-all-trades, and master of most, he could fix any
piece of machinery with bits and pieces he found lying around, he
could communicate with any horse thrust at him, and he loved and still
loves his wife Kay with a single-minded devotion. |
My brother
and I were totally blessed to be partly raised by the two of them, and
I still miss his company although we haven't worked together in 23 years."
James performed
the song at six drought relief concerts in NSW en route to his Crown Casino
gig on August 2.
Blundell headlined the concerts in southern and western NSW that gave
rural families a break from the stresses of drought.
"Our songs won't make it rain or lift market prices," said twice
wed James, now 44.
"But they will remind us this has all happened before and every day
it doesn't rain is one day closer to when it does."
Victorian born Tamara Stewart and Peter Denahy and Hunter Valley vamp
Kirsty Lee Akers joined Blundell at the gigs that began on July 4 in Urana.
The quarter also performed at Wakool, Booligal, Ungarrie (home of the
famous AFL Daniher brothers), Barellan and Jerilderie.
Blundell also released his first DVD collection on July 7.
The Definitive Collection 1988-2008 celebrates the first 20 years
of James' career and features 21 clips from the singer.
Blundell has written hits for Slim Dusty, Lee Kernaghan and Jimmy Little
and won nine Golden Guitar awards and five ARIA Award nominations.

THE
PIGS
|
We
also feature The Pigs who made the finals of the Tamworth Golden
Guitars with the video for Crazy - title track of their first
