GRETCHEN WILSON HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV RETURN

Redneck
woman Gretchen Wilson headlines the premiere of Series #8 of Nu
Country TV in the prime time slot of 8 pm this Saturday - June 9. The singer wrote nine of the 11 songs on the disc that sold more than 74,000 units on debut and pushed her career sales beyond five million. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard rock charts and #1 on the country graph. Wilson, 33 and mother of a six-year-old daughter Grace, has also released a behind the scenes DVD Undressed and an autobiography Redneck Woman: Stories from My Life. |
"I am
the redneck woman - I am tough, like to stay out and have fun and hang
out with the boys - that's who I am," says Wilson, born in Pocahontas.
"But there's more than that. And I'm hoping that by now, the third
record, that with some of the lyrics and the songwriting, that people
know that there's a lot more than that."
Wilson was the not so surprise packet of the Myer Music Bowl Tsunami concert
here in 2005.

PORT FAIRY HOSTING ROLES
Scared Weird
Little Guys star Rusty Rich, Flood singer Kevin Bennett and Hamish Davidson
of The Davidson Brothers share hosting roles on this week's show.
Their cameos were filmed at the 31st Port Fairy folk festival in March.
Rusty performed at the prestigious festival with Scared Weird Little Guys
and his country project The Rich Family featuring his mother Noelene,
sister Sherry and her American husband Rick Plant who has played with
artists diverse as Buddy Miller, Emmylou Harris and Pure Prairie League.
Bennett's band The Flood won wide acclaim for their performances and guest
role on the Bob Dylan tribute show.
They perform a video clip of their song 2003 from their third album The
Late, Late Show.
The band also released a DVD with Californian born mentor Kevin Welch
and won a Golden Guitar in Tamworth for best vocal group in 2006.

Gippsland
raised bluegrass virtuosos The Davidson Brothers are celebrating release
of their third CD Raised On The Road. It features a video of the autobiographical title track. Hamish Davidson, who performed in Port Fairy solo and with brother Lachlan, played with frequent Golden Guitar winner Anne Kirkpatrick who was promoting 14th album Showman's Daughter. |

LOST IN SUBURBIA

Shipwreck
Coast band Lost In Suburbia also made a big impact at Port Fairy with
songs from their self titled debut CD.
The band, formed from the ashes of Nevada, has been working the coast
for almost a decade.
We captured them performing the Dwight Yoakam classic It Only Hurts
When I Cry live at the Shebeen Bar - once known as the Guinness Tent.
Axel Keert, brother of drummer Rohan - known for his work with the T-Bones
and Slap N The Cats - headed the camera crew.
Dead Livers bassist Michael Schack, who plays rhythm in Lost In Suburbia,
was in the house band for the Dylan tribute show and pedal steel guitarist
Murray McDowall took time out from driving a milk tanker for the gig.
Lost In Suburbia bassist Peter Bird - our videographer for the 2005 Port
Fairy fest - edited the clip for Nu Country.

country duo Camille Te Nahu and Stuie French return to Nu Country
TV with a video of their new song Let's Make A Family from
their second album Recovered. It's the sequel to Not Without You from 2005 that featured a video for Without You. French was one of the co-founders of the Feral Swing Katz who toured the U.S. with former Tamworth born star Felicity who has regular TV feature roles in Sydney and has also hosted Nu Country TV. French also supported Merle Haggard on his 1996 Australian tour while playing with Troy Cassar-Daley. Camille, who has also released a solo disc, and Stuie even named their son Chet after late guitar legend Chet Atkins |

Country
super star duo Brooks & Dunn broadened its support base when it
opened for the Rolling Stones on a recent U.S. tour. The billing was no real surprise - the duo has sold 26 million plus albums in 16 years of recording. We feature the video for Hillbilly Deluxe - title track of their big selling 2005 album. Texan born Ronnie Dunn, now 54, studied to be a Baptist minister in his home state before working honky tonks for 15 years with his dad. While playing badlands bars he was evicted from bible college, went to Nashville and hooked up with Kix Brooks, now 52, who worked Alaska pipe lines after being born down the street from the late Johnny Horton in Shreveport, Louisiana |
Dunn's duet
with expatriate Australasian superstar Keith Urban on Raise The Barn
is on the U.S. release of Urban's sixth album Love, Pain &
the Whole Crazy Thing but not on the Australian pressing.
