       DAVE'S
        DIARY - 16/1/07 - PREVIEW OF EPISODE 6 - SERIES 7
       SOLOMON
        BURKE HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV

            |
          Legendary
country soul singer Solomon Burke headlines this week's episode of
            Nu Country TV - Saturday January 20 - at 9. 30 p m on C 31.

The show, hosted by Mid Pacific Bob Olson, is repeated on Wednesday
at 5.30 p m and Thursday at high noon.

Mid Pacific Bob also has a tasty new recipe from his Beer Can Hill
            delta kitchen.

Burke, 66 and father of 21, performs a video of You're The Kind
Of Trouble from his new album Nashville. |

      The video
was recorded in the Nashville home studio of his producer Buddy Miller
who toured Australia as guitarist for Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle.

Bishop Burke, a minister and mortician, weighs more than 300 pounds and
has 84 grandchildren and 17 great grand children.

Burke's love of country dates back 46 years to his debut hit Just Out
of Reach Of My Two Open Arms - also cut by Faron Young and Patsy Cline.

The singer, whose career suffered ebbs and flows, kept wolves from his
door during the lean years by working in his ministry and mortician businesses.

His roller coaster career kicked back into gear after his songs appeared
in 1980 Blue Brothers movie and Dirty Dancing in 1987 and prompted recent
        Australian tours.

       MARY
GAUTHIER ADDED TO NU COUNTRY TV

            |

             Louisiana
born singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier and Grafton trio The McClymonts
have been added to Nu Country TV - this Saturday - January 20 -
              9.30 p m on C 31.

Gauthier performs a video clip of her tune Mercy Now on the
eve of her headlining role at the Harvest Festival in Red Hill on
              Sunday.

The singer performed at Basement Discs during the week and with
Steve Young at Northcote Social Club on Friday January 19.

Gauthier performs a video clip of the title track of her third album
              Mercy Now (Lost Highway-Universal.)

Producer Gurf Morlix took the reigns for Gauthier's eclectic disc
that followed her trail blazing first two albums after her belated
              songwriting debut at 35.

      Gauthier
has made up for lost time by visiting Australia where she first scored
exposure via expatriate Van Diemen's Land diva Audrey Auld Mezera on her
        Reckless Records label.

Audrey's former singing partner Bill Chambers also gave exposure to Gauthier
by cutting her tune I Drink as a single and video clip.

Gauthier's life echoes a character torn from the back pages of Dylan's
        Desolation Row.

Now, at the ripe young age of 45, she is touring here at the peak of her
        career.

      The McClymonts

the trio being banned by the corporate commercial radio chains.

They also enjoyed a massive leaflet drop campaign outside the Dixie Chicks
        concerts in Melbourne.

And they made the Geelong Advertiser during mass evacuations of prestigious
Costa Hall, Geelong, during their concert with Lee and Tania Kernaghan.
