DAVE'S
DIARY - 18 DECEMBER 2006 - PREVIEW EPISODE 2 -SERIES 7
ALAN
JACKSON HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV
|
Georgian
born country superstar Alan Jackson headlines this week's episode
of Nu Country TV.
The show, hosted by Heather Rutherford, appears Saturday December
23 at 9.30 p m on C 31 in Victoria, and Sunday at 5.30 p m on C 31
in South Australia.
Jackson, discovered by expatriate Australasian Barry Coburn, performs
a video clip for the title track of his Alison Krauss produced 16th
album Like Red On A Rose. |
Jackson's
clip was filmed in Malibu, California, just a few hours before Australian
acting superstar Mel Gibson was arrested nearby for drunk driving.
Director Randee St. Nicholas set up shop on the beach at the Leo Carillo
State Park, just off the Pacific Coast Highway.
A stone sober Jackson scrambled over rocks to make it to the set on the
edge of the surf while curious beachcombers snapped pictures and watched
over the nearby cliff.
"I just happened to be here on the West Coast, so the director was
out here as well, so they decided to shoot something here on the Coast,"
Jackson said of filming the video. "Man they're working me to death!
I've got to go out and walk on the beach. It's tough! I was wearing my
boots in the walk down the beach. Yeah that's what they want me to do.
They want me to walk out in the water and ruin them."
Jackson, now 48, may have ruined the boots - but not the album, produced
by 20-time Grammy winner Krauss.
It topped U.S. charts on debut.
Trucking troubadour Robert Lee Castleman, a prolific writer for Krauss
albums, also penned four songs for Jackson including the title track that
has pushed his album sales beyond 45 million.
