DWIGHT
YOAKAM MOVIES AND MUSIC
|
Dwight
Yoakam has become better known for his movies than his music in Australia
in the past decade.
But that might change when the Kentucky born, California resident
returns here in October for his second national tour.
Yoakam, 49, headlines Nu Country TV this Saturday - August 29 - at
8.30 p m - in an episode hosted by Heather Rutherford.
Heather, a new mother, frequently played the singer actor in her shifts
at Nu Country FM in its reign at the Paris, Texas, end of Collins
St in 2001.
Yoakam performs a new clip of the title track of his 18th album Blame
The Vain as a promo for his return concerts at the St Kilda Palais
on October 27 and 28. |
The singer
debuted in 1994 movie Red Rock West, The Little Death and Painted
Hero in 1995 before the Billy Bob Thornton movie Slingblade
in 1996.
Yoakam wrote a brace of songs on the set of The Newton Boys in Austin,
Texas, and then starred in When Trumpets Fade and The Minus
Man.
The singer performed opposite Jodie Foster in Panic Room after
causing considerable financial angst for late duet partner Buck Owens
in his directorial debut on South Of Heaven, West Of Hell.
Dwight has been busy in recent films Hollywood Homicide, Crank, The
Break-Up and The Wedding Crashers, starring Owen Wilson and Vince
Vaughn.
He also appeared opposite Penelope Cruz in Bandidas and Salmat
