KINKY
FRIEDMAN AND BI0-WILLIE - TEXAS TRYSTERS
|
Singing
Texas crime novelist Kinky Friedman has spoken exclusively to Nu Country
TV at the HQ of Willie Nelson's Bio-Willie diesel fuel empire.
Friedman used a music festival featuring famous Texas peers as the
launch pad of his endorsement of Nelson's clean energy strategy.
The Kinkster, 61 and single, also revealed he is now courting a descendant
of Captain Cook during his campaign to become the next Governor Of
Texas.

Friedman
has shocked political observers with his huge state-wide support for the
poll to be held on November 7.
Kinky's interview, directed by Nu Country TV associate producer Carol
Taylor, is a highlight of our episode - at 8.30 p m this Saturday September
23 - on C 31.
A prominent U.S. TV network, producing a documentary on Friedman's campaign
to become the first Jewish Governor of the Lone Star State, also filmed
our interview.
This episode, hosted by prolific drummer Dave Folley and filmed by Sofie
Blichfeldt, is also featured on C 31 in South Australia on Sunday at 6.30
p m.
Veteran Texan country stars Asleep At The Wheel, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Billy
Joe Shaver, Johnny Bush, Tommy Alverson and young guns Shooter Jennings,
Pauline Reese, Waylon Payne and Django Walker - son of Jerry Jeff - performed
to support Kinky and Willie.
So did Grammy Award winning Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, famous outlaw David
Allan Coe, Heather Myles, Justin Trevino and many other country stars.
The Kinkster has been honoured with a second tribute album - a sequel
to Pearls In The Snow, produced by last week's Nu Country TV host
Kacey Jones.
The new disc - Why The Hell Not - the Songs Of Kinky Friedman -
was released on September 19.
It reprises Friedman songs by Shotgun Willie, Lyle Lovett, Delbert McClinton
and Dwight Yoakam who makes his second Australian tour in October.
Artists diverse as Kevin Fowler, Todd Snider, Ray Benson & Reckless
Kelly, Jason Boland, Charlie & Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis also
perform on it.

ALISON
KRAUSS & UNION STATION RETURN
|
Illinois
born bluegrass belle Alison Krauss and her stellar band Union Station
return to Nu Country with a video of her new single If I Didn't
Know Any Better.
It's the third video clip from Krauss's 11th album Lonely Runs
Both Ways.
Mindy Smith and John Scott Sherrill wrote the song and acclaimed director
Wayne Isham directed the video. |
Australian
promoters have been trying to lure Krauss, winner of 20 Grammies, to tour
here since she broke in the nineties.
Meanwhile
Alison, 35, has produced Georgian country superstar Alan Jackson's 15th
album Like Red On A Rose.
It also features a video clip for Jackson's title track.
Ironically, director Randee St. Nicholas filmed it on the beach at the
Leo Carillo State Park, just off Pacific Coast Highway near Los Angeles,
the same day Mel Gibson was busted for DUI a few miles away.
We also have that video and will run it in Series #7 over summer.
