DAVE'S
DIARY - 27 NOVEMBER 2005 - CATHERINE BRITT TOUR
CATHERINE
BRITT TRIUMPHANT RETURN
|
Expatriate
Australian country starlet Catherine Britt headlines the seasonal
invasion of the local summer tour circuit.
Catherine will celebrate Christmas and her 21st birthday on New Year's
Eve with her parents Steve and Anne in her hometown Newcastle.
The singer will then tour here to promote her second album Too
Far Gone that will be released here on January 15, prior to its
U.S. launch.
Britt reached #34 on the prestige U.S. Billboard charts with her debut
single The Up Side Of Being Down. |
She also
cracked the Top 40 with her second U.S. single - a duet with Sir Elton
John - on her collaboration with Jerry Salley on Where We Both Say
Goodbye.
Britt has received wide exposure in the U.S and here on CMC for Poor
Man's Pride - the tune she wrote with Salley and legendary troubadour
Guy Clark.
"The song has a lot of truth in it because it was based on a story
from one of my co-writers' families. It really flowed out and we just
went with it," Catherine said.
"I love this song because it's pure country, and has all the depth
and feeling of the music I grew up with and developed such a passion for."
We'll feature that video on Nu Country TV to promote her tour starting
in Tamworth on January 27.
Her new single Swinging Doors will be released in the U.S. as a
prelude to the album release.
Britt is scheduled for Churchill Saloon on Sunday February 5 - paucity
of airplay has stifled chances of a Melbourne gig unless fans persuade
tour promoter Allied Artists they would attend a gig before her Tweed
Heads concert on February 9.

DAVID
LEE MURPHY RETURN
Prolific
Illinois born chart topping country star David Lee Murphy returns
to Australia for his third tour.
Murphy, 47 and father of three, performed St Kilda Palais when he
last toured here with Lee Kernaghan in 2003.
The singer is touring to promote his fourth album Tryin' To Get There
that featured the Top 5 U.S. hit Loco.
Ironically, it was the only hit single released by the now defunct
Nashville division of Koch Records that also released artists diverse
as Dwight Yoakam, Charlie Daniels, Dale Watson, Kentucky Headhunters
and many more. |
|
Murphy, a
frequent co-writer with Australians including Melinda Schneider and the
Adams - Brand and Harvey - will share some bills with Britt, Harvey and
guest Nu Country TV host Felicity.

here in April for the Byron Bay blues festival.
The trio - featuring former Adelaide multi-instrumentalist Kym Warner
and Dorrigo diva Carol Young - toured the U.S. with Shotgun Willie
Nelson and Bob Dylan.
It will be a blast for Young who was reared within a Rex Hunt Groper's
kiss of Byron Bay at Dorrigo and Coffs Harbour.
|
Greencards
tour to promote its second CD Weather And Water and debut disc
Moving On.
Victorian dates will be determined by the impact of video exposure on
CMC and Nu Country TV and ABC and community radio airplay.
