       DAVE'S
        DIARY - 25 NOVEMBER 2003 - LUKE O'SHEA
      BUCK
WITH LUKE O'SHEA AT THE BULL
      Would you
like to be the first urban cowpoke to mount Boris the bull and stay on
        for eight seconds.

        Well, here's your chance.

Boris is a mean mechanical bull and he grazes at the 'Buck N Bull' cowboy
bar at 295 Sunshine Road, Tottenham.

Nu Country TV will film Boris and buckees on Saturday June 7 when white
hot new Sydney country artist Luke O'Shea & The Medicine Wheel debut
        at the Buck N Bull.

The ABC Records singer-songwriter is promoting his acclaimed debut CD
'No Day Like Today' at the venue, once known at the Tottenham Hotel.

You can saddle up old Boris at the gig that starts at 8 p m and has a
special on Jim Beam and Cougar - the western courage you may or may not
        need to get mounted.
O'Shea is making his first Victorian tour since receiving national community
        radio and ABC exposure.

          The
former teacher, who was discovered on ABC TV show 'Live At The Basement,'
will be filmed for Nu Country TV which debuts on Channel 31 in September.

Sydney's Basement shows are broadcast live to the net and feature
artists diverse as singing Texan crime novelist Kinky Friedman, kicker
cowboy Billy Joe Shaver and former U.S. President playing air saxophone
at a concert by Canadian jazz legend Maynard Ferguson.

O'Shea wrote all 12 tunes on his debut disc and exploited the raw
material unearthed from his travels in the U.K., Ireland and Indian
            reservations in the U.S.

He named his band after the Native American medicine wheel and showcases
his 12 tunes diverse as 'Telephone Lines', 'Cigarettes For Sale',
'Wild Pony' and David Lynch inspired 'Bourbon Coloured Sky.' |

      The latter
song, the follow up single to 'Standing In The Rain', had a vivid
        source.
"I was watching a movie on TV late one night - David Lynch's 'Twin
Falls," Luke explained on the release of his album.

"I was half asleep but the last scene of this movie featured this
fiery red sunset and in my mind came up with the phrase 'bourbon coloured
sky.' The word 'bourbon' had been bouncing around in my head for a while
        evoking strong, manly western images."

You can catch O'Shea embellish his songs and their sources at the Buck
N Bull as Nu Country TV director-producer Peter Hosking captures the 'Bourbon
Coloured Sky' for Channel 31 viewers.

Medicine Wheel features guitarist David Bova, drummer David Sleishmann,
backing vocalist Sigrid Langford, bassist Stewart MacClennan and fiddler
        Cye Wood.

For rural country or cyber folks the Buck N Bull is in the inner Melbourne
        western suburb of Tottenham.

Tottenham is just a mile from the famed Western Bulldogs footy club's
        Western Oval in Footscray.
