JO DEE MESSINA POURS ALCOCHOL INTO BOOK

born belle Jo Dee Messina has revealed another reason for cancelling
her autumn return tour of Australia. Messina, 33, spent a week in a Utah Alcohol Rehabilitation Clinic for her abuse problem that emerged during a Texas super bowl victory party. |
The singer forgot the lyrics to big hit Stand Beside Me during a victory party for the New England Patriots gridiron team in Houston.
Messina made
good use of her rehab treatment - she wrote a new song My Way Home
that she performed in a confessional appearance on the CMT Insider TV
show.
And she also reveals her addiction and recovery in her pending book That's
Right I'm An Addict.
The singer was sprung when her manager Stuart Dill, manager of Freddy
Fender, quizzed her about her lyric amnesia.
The rehab clinic news was a shock for Australian fans eagerly awaiting
Jo Dee's return tour.
''She didn't dance on tables,'' Dill said.
"Jo Dee started drinking socially and then she recognised she had
a problem.
This manifested itself in Houston.
''As soon as I questioned her about that, she admitted she had a problem,''
Dill added.
Jo Dee ultimately made the decision herself to check into rehab, and she
told Stuart and others a couple of days later.
Since then, Stuart has visited her and reported that she was in good spirits.
''Her strength shines through,'' he said.
RUPTURED ROMANCE
Jo Dee Messina
was scheduled to follow Canadian chanteuse Terri Clark into Geelong on
her second Australian sojourn.
Messina was booked to perform at Costa Hall on Saturday May 1 and Goulburn
Valley capital Shepparton on Sunday May 2.
She was also scheduled to follow Canadian Jason McCoy into twin city HQ
Albury on April 30.
But, on the eve of the tour she broke up with former fiance-tour manager
Don Musquiz.
''I think both of us decided that if after seven-and-a-half years of being
together we're still unsure," Messina revealed recently.
"Well, let's just say, I think you ought to be sure,'' she said.
Messina was touring to promote her Greatest Hits CD that also produced
new hit single, I Wish.
The singer, who keeps fit by jogging and boxing, has had a dozen Top 10
and 5 #1 hits from her four albums that have sold four million plus copies.
