HICKS FINDS SOLACE IN HIS MUSIC
Paul Hicks
|
Popular
former Nu Country TV host and disc jockey Paul Hicks received tragic
news while in Tamworth promoting his debut solo CD Kettle Of
Fish.
Hicks learned that his mother Moira died of cancer on Tuesday at
the age of 65.
The singer-songwriter rushed back from the crowded NSW country music
capital to help organise his mother's funeral in Wangaratta.
|
It was a
double whammy for Hicks, 38, who moved from Melbourne last year to live
on the 50-acre family farm at Oxley after his father John had suffered
an aneurysm.
The Hicks patriarch went into a coma but later died after a valiant struggle.
Paul returned home to be near his mother after she lost her husband and
father of her children.
Hicks and his brothers played football for Wangaratta Rovers in the famed
Ovens & Murray League after being educated in Wangaratta at Galen
College.
All the siblings had attended concerts by Paul and his bands The Haybalers,
Broken Spoke and new unit the High Kings.
Moira Hicks funeral is scheduled for Our Lady's Catholic Church in Wangaratta
on Tuesday January 25 at 11 a.m.
Donations may be made at the service to the St Vincent De Paul Society.
Cards can be sent to Paul at RMB 9006, Wangaratta VIC 3678
