LUCINDA WILLIAMS LOSES MOTHER
CANCELS AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Grammy award winning Louisiana born country singer Lucinda Williams has belatedly cancelled her Australian tour after the death of her mother Lucille, 73, on Sunday March 7.
Lucinda, 51, had planned to soldier on with her April return visit after she cancelled the remainder of an American season.

But after spending time with her family in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she reluctantly quit the Australian leg.

Her record company Lost Highway said the emotional impact her mother's passing has had on Williams and her family has been devastating.

The cancellation is disappointing for Melbourne fans whose enthusiasm ensured a second concert on April 23 was added to her schedule.

It's also a major blow to veteran Adelaide tour promoter Adrian Bohm and the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival at Byron Bay over Easter.

Ticket sales had kick-started demand for Williams' seventh album World Without Tears that has been re-released in Australian with three bonus tracks.

Those tunes were an alternate version of Buick Blues, Hang Down Your Head and Cold Cold Heart.
