Kacey also became an Uber driver to rescue Kelly when he was locked up in Nashville police cells for DUI in January, 2018.

Kelly made the most of his time behind bars to write a new song for his second album that follows debut disc Dying Star recorded at Sonic Ranch way out west in El Paso.

Kacey and Kelly honoured the late Johnny Cash with their adaptation of the poem To June This Morning that started as an ode by the man-in-black to his second wife June Carter Cash from 2016 book Forever Words: The Unknown Poems.

Johnny died at 71 on September 12, 2003, and June died earlier that year on May 15 at 73 after many Australian tours.

KEVIN FOWLER HAS COUNTRY SONG TO SING

Texan Kevin Fowler traces his life in country songs in his return to Nu Country TV.

The Amarillo born father of three daughters revealed he was raised on George Jones and other major country stars

It helped him make the most of his 52 years in his video trip from cradle to his grandpa's grave.

His final pit stop was at Buck's Bar in Buda , Texas , in Country Song To Sing on his eighth album Coming To A Honky Tonk Near You.

Fowler's hits include Beer, Bait & Ammo, Hip Hop In a Honky Tonk and Santa Got Busted by the Border Patrol.

The latter was inspired by Shotgun Willie Nelson's drug busts - and features a cameo by Asleep At The Wheel singer Ray Benson.

Kevin also recorded Don't Touch My Willie about his hero - singing actor Nelson who turns 86 on April 30.

Fowler has a penchant for booze songs - The Lord Loves a Drinking Man, Beer Season, Long Neckin' (Makes for Short Memories), Drinking Days, Ain't Drinking No More, Beer Money and All The Tequila in Tijuana.

Louisiana gubernatorial candidate Sammy Kershaw and fellow Texans George Jones and Mark Chesnutt recorded Beer, Bait & Ammo - title track of his 2000 album.

Chesnutt also cut The Lord Loves A Drinking Man.

Fowler writes songs driving his pickup at his ranch near Junction - he calls them "presents from the song Gods."

"Those seem to be the best ones," he said of songs including Cheaper To Keep Her.

TORI FORSYTH DOWN TO THE RIVER IN THE VALLEY

Hunter Valley singer-songwriter Tori Forsyth returns to Nu Country with a haunting tale.

She fought the curses of witches in the forest and murky dark water in her video for Redemption - fourth single from debut disc Dawn Of The Dark, produced by Shane Nicholson.

The 23-year-old was born on the NSW Central Coast but was raised on a 62-acre farm near tiny rural town Congewa in the Hunter Valley.

Tori previously appeared on Nu Country with Grave Robber's Daughter filmed in Swanhaven on the NSW south coast,

She mixed poetry and songwriting at school with encouragement of a grade 5 English teacher who “was the only teacher in the school who made poetry a thing, and it was really cool”.

Tori didn't rate her writing - “I always just fluked English”.

But her original tune Johnny And June appeared on debut 2014 EP Black Bird that she worked multiple jobs to pay for.

“I tried to co-write, I did a lot of them, but I didn't feel they were a reflection of me and I wouldn't be comfortable putting them out,” recalled Tori who played the 2018 South by South West Festival in Austin , Texas .

“If I was to have an album full of love songs that would be dumb, it wouldn't make sense. If I was making an album about drinking and having a good time on a Friday, that wouldn't make sense either.”
