SHOOTER FINDS FAST HORSES AND GOOD HIDEOUTS

Shooter Jennings showcases his family's genetic humour and music in his return to our show.

Shooter, now 39, indulged in some Hee Haw haystack style cornball cameos as he previews his latest video Fast Horses And Good Hideouts from his self-titled 10 th album.

The singer is the son of veteran outlaw Waylon Jennings who died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and fellow singer Jessi Colter.

Shooter was courting fellow actor Drea De Matteo of Joey and Sopranos fame when he was among the headliners of Willie Nelson's July 3 and July 4 Picnics at Carl's Corner and Fort Worth in 2006.

The couple, who met in 2003, have two children - daughter Alabama Gypsy Rose Jennings born in November, 2007 and son Waylon Albert "Blackjack" Jennings born in April 2011.

Jennings and de Matteo split before Shooter married another actor Misty Brooke Swain on June 4, 2013 in Joshua Tree, California.

Misty starred in the Spook TV and Flush movies.

Shooter's acting roles included Sons Of Anarchy, CSI crime series, Johnny Cash movie Walk The Line, The Other Life & Robot Chicken.

The singer has also released four live albums and others with his mum Jessi and bands including Stargunn who were featured on I've Always Been Crazy: A Tribute to Waylon Jennings and the soundtrack to the Vince Vaughn film Made.

They also recorded White Lines N Black Ties for the film The Crew starring Burt Reynolds.

PADDY MCHUGH DOWN TO SYDNEY

Brisbane singer-songwriter Paddy McHugh explored alternatives to suicide - especially for young rural men - in his latest video.

Paddy's male protagonist finds antidotes to premature death he saw when growing up in Tamworth.

Despite drinking and driving the video's lead character pulls back and survives the temptation to suicide.

McHugh recorded Down To Sydney for second album City Bound Trains.

Paddy debuted on Nu Country with the title track of City Bound Trains, released in September.

He doubled as a barista and rewarded a busker before he drove his video loco past a billboard for the Bearded Lady Bar in Brisbane 's West end.

City Bound Trains follows his 2013 album - the punny Trials and Cape Tribulation.

“I know there are many reasons why people listen to and enjoy music, but for me honesty was paramount when it came to the style of music I wanted to make,” says the latter day Brisbane singer.

“It had to be about something that I knew about or cared about.”

McHugh has performed Gympie Muster, Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival and many other gigs.

City Bound Trains was produced by Brendan Gallagher of Karma County fame.

KRISTY JAMES DARK GLASSES

Novocastrian singer Kristy James shines a spotlight from her dark sun glasses in her morality tale about sinners in her new video.

Kristy explored three country staples - murder and adultery spawned by cheating.

The video ends in a grave problem for mourners in the clip directed by Jesse Anderson of Click Video.

Kristy and partner Luke Davis recorded Dark Sunglasses at their Avenue home studio for her Raw EP.

“ Dark Sunglasses, is one of those haunting, catchy, rocky type tracks, very imaginative and creative about situations possible when we're left to our own thoughts versus what we would do in reality,” Kristy revealed.

“ Everything to Nothing is one of my favourite pieces I have written. When Matt Scullion and I decided to write a song together, we wanted to challenge ourselves and write a song with the same repetition of chords and I really love the outcome.

“ Cinderella is my latest single and a tale of love that's just not meant to be and my previous single. “The fourth track is Brand New that I wrote with Damien Leith. It's a deep and powerful song about a tragic past but it does serve a positive message.

“ Stone Cold Sober is a bluesy, soulful song written after something I overheard when I was walking along Broadway in Nashville .

“ Push completes the EP nicely. It's a message of hope, faith and encouragement. Sometimes the best things in life are just a little push away.”
