TROY TAKES A WALK ON THE BEACHES AND BEYOND

Troy Cassar-Daley enjoys his dream time in our mountains, beaches, deserts and way beyond in his latest video Take A Walk In My Country from his ninth album Freedom Ride , released last month.

Troy wrote the song with Colin Buchanan and filmed it with director Duncan Toombs.

“ Duncan filmed that at Cave's Beach in Newcastle ,” Troy, 45 and father of two children, revealed.

“It was a spectacular day - the first time Duncan had used a drone camera. He sent the drone out over the water, he was still working out if it was viable. It was wonderful to have that story line with the little indigenous girl and the other girl who was not. It was nice to see she was saying ‘come and have a look at this.' Some people say it was irresponsible parenting - we laughed about it.”

Troy 's next video illustrates his album title track based on the 1965 Freedom Ride led by the late Charles Perkins.

He showcased the song live on ABC-TV after the album debuted at #4 on ARIA charts.

JOSH ABBOTT EXPLORES LOVE AND WAR

West Texas born Josh Abbott explores the dire dynamics of love and in his video for Touch from his band's third album Small Town Family Dream.

Abbott, 35 wed wife Amanda in 2010, and confessed to booze fuelled infidelity after his career took off.

The band has since released new EP Tuesday Night for Atlantic .

Abbott wrote She's Like Texas about Amanda - Tuesday Night debuted at #12 on Billboard .

It helped cement the Lubbockian as a star from Texas to Nashville .

“We really love so much of the country music coming out of Nashville . Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Lee Brice and Jerrod Niemann,” Abbott revealed.

“Those are the ones making what we consider country music, and we like it all. Everyone else seems to want a crossover hit. And there's a tendency to stick to what sells. But any time you hear someone like Dierks, who hasn't given in to that bro-country movement, that's the kind of music we like.”

Abbott follows bands that started in Texas then made it internationally - Dixie Chicks, Eli Young Band , Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert and more.

“That's the goal, you know. We signed the deal so we could take the music to more people and succeed on a national level. On our own terms. We want to release a song that's not just a Texas No. 1 but a national No. 1,” Abbott added.

“Anybody can put together a band and learn a bunch of other people's songs, but what separates you from other people is if you write your own songs. In Texas , that's what weeds you out.

“We're not millionaires, but we make good money and have a great fan base. I always thought, ‘As long as I can make $50,000 a year doing music that beats an office job for sure.' Any night we get to do this it's all good.”
