LUKAS NELSON HEADLINES NU COUNTRY TV

Texan singer-songwriter and actor Lukas Nelson headlines Nu Country TV on Saturday January 6 at 6.30 pm on Channel 31/ Digital 44.

Mississippi minstrel Charlie Worsham and Georgian Kip Moore boomerang to the show hosted, filmed and produced by Laith Graham and repeated Tuesday at 1.30 am.

Fellow Georgian Jason Aldean, former Virginian marine and merchant banker Tony Jackson and Hunter Valley Golden Guitarist singer-songwriter Kirsty Lee Akers also return this week.

Texan veteran Tanya Tucker, fellow prolific award winner Lainey Wilson and Elle King perform live at the 57th CMA awards in Nashville .

Nu Country TV is a highlight of C 31 streaming list on Digital 44.

LUKAS PILOT DREAMS

Lukas Nelson returns with his new video that follows his 12th album Sticks And Stones.

Lukas celebrated his 35th birthday on Christmas day and wants to pilot a plane to Uluru when he next tours here.

Meanwhile he is back on the road again with his dad - Shotgun Willie Nelson, now aged 90.

Lukas performs an acoustic video for Who Are We To Say What's It Meant To Be this week.

He toured here in 2019 before the pandemic and played Corner Hotel in Richmond with his Promise Of The Real band .

They appeared on Nu Country with their live video for Wildest Dream from ninth album A Few Stars Apart produced by Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb.

Lukas and Louisiana born star Lainey Wilson, 31, also fronted our show with More Than Friends and the Dolly Parton-Kenny Rogers hit You Can't Make Old Friends at Leslie Jordan's tribute concert.

Lainey has won eight major country music awards after releasing her fourth album Bell Bottom Country.

Lukas appeared in films with his dad and had large cameos in the latest A Star Is Born movie revamp.

Nelson and Promise Of The Real were lead actor Brad Cooper's movie band and he produced and directed much of the music.

Lukas also wrote songs with Lady Ga-Ga who shared star billing with Cooper.

He also fronted Nu Country with his videos for Movie On My Mind, Forget About Georgia , Just Outside Of Austin , Find Yourself, Bad Case, Healing Hands Of Time and My Tears Fall.

CHARLIE WORSHAM AND KIP MOORE

When Charlie Worsham toured here in 2018 he performed at Melbourne CBD Forum with Lee Brice and recent Georgian tourist Kip Moore.

This week Moore, 43, joins him in their Kiss Like You Dance video from Charlie's third album Compadre.

Charlie, now 38, recently fronted Nu Country with North Carolina chart-topper Luke Combs, 33, on their video for I Learned How To Pray - also on Compadre.

It followed another Charlie chapel song - the wry I Hope I'm Stoned When Jesus Takes Me Home.

Worsham played struggling country singer Colin Haynes who was murdered in Fox TV series Bones after he was a mandolinist-singer in embryonic band King Billy who cut an EP in 2010.

Worsham graced Nu Country with his Half Drunk, Believe In Love and Fist Through This Town videos.

JASON ALDEAN HIGHWAY DESPERADO

Georgian superstar singer-songwriter-actor Jason Aldean delivers a strong warning to folks on the wrong side of the law in his Nu Country TV return.

Jason, now 46, sings steer clear when you come here to my old town in Try That In A Small Town on his 12th album Highway Desperados.

He also fronted our show with Trouble With A Heartbreak from his 11th album Georgia.

Jason has toured here several times and had a #1 hit with eight time Grammy winning Oklahoma oriole Carrie Underwood with If I Didn't Love You from his 10th album Macon.

They appeared on our Series #49 finale in November 2021 with their video performed in an empty concert hall in the pandemic.

Carrie, aged 39, is an Okie from Muscogee and released ten albums - her latest Denim & Diamonds follows her gospel album My Saviour .

Jason and Carrie both toured here before lockdown.

Aldean is married to singer Brittany Kerr and Carrie wed former Nashville Predators hockey star Mike Fisher in 2010.

Carrie appeared in movies including Soul Surfer , wrote a book Find Your Path in 2020 and founded her fitness clothing line CALIA by Carrie in 2015.

TONY JACKSON COUNTRY MEMORIES

Virginian singer-songwriter Tony Jackson was a marine and Fortune 500 banker before choosing his music career.

He honoured heroes with veteran Randy Travis, now 64, in his evocative Do You Remember Country Music video filmed in the Cash Cabin north of Nashville.

It's on his second album I've Got Songs To Sing.

“I am very proud of this project and thankful to be joined by such legendary studio musicians,” Tony revealed.

“I am especially thankful to my friends, Rhonda Vincent, and Randy Travis, for being a part of it. I met Randy as a kid while living overseas and it remains a powerful core memory. Working with him professionally as an adult is a dream realized.”

The former United States Marine Corps member was turned onto traditional country music while growing up in the military and listening to it on Armed Forces Radio.

TANYA TUCKER LAINEY WILSON ELLE KING LIVE

Louisiana star Lainey Wilson, Texan Tanya Tucker and Elle King teamed at the 57th CMA awards in Nashville.

It was where Lainey won five major country awards.

They revived the historic hit Texas When I Die penned by Bobby Borchers, Ed Bruce and Patsy Bruce.

Singing actor Elle King previously fronted Nu Country with Texan Miranda Lambert on their Drunk And I Don't Want To Go Home video.

Elle, 33, is daughter of actor comedian Rob Schneider and niece of singing actor John Schneider of Dukes Of Hazzard fame.

King released three albums and two EPS after debuting as an actress in 1999 in her dad's film Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo before other acting and music roles from when she was 16.

Tanya, now 65, had her first hit at 13 with Alex Harvey penned Delta Dawn followed by David Allan Coe's Would You Lay With Me In A Field of Stone?

Tanya also appeared in Hard Country and Jeremiah Johnson movies and released Nickel Dreams: My Life book in 1997.

She fronted Nu Country with Kindness from her 30th album Sweet Western Sound after appearing in 2020 with a collage of images to illustrate her life story in The House That Built Me video from 27th album While I'm Living that won Tanya her two Grammys in February.

Tanya won best country album for While I'm Living and best country song for Bring My Flowers Now.

The wins were the first for Tanya after 10 nominations dating back 47 years.

“After 50 years in this business, and it's still unbelievable to me that I still have a few firsts left,” Tanya revealed.

Brandi Carlile produced Tanya's album with Shooter Jennings but her Hamer Hall concert on April 6, 2020, was cancelled because of the pandemic.

Tanya previously appeared on Nu Country with Shooter and Brandi in previous videos Hard Luck and The Wheels Of Laredo .

KIRSTY LEE AKERS PHYSICAL DISTRACTION

Hunter Valley singer-songwriter Kirsty Lee Akers returns to our show with her Physical Distraction from her sixth album Wild on her own Rider Records.

The Kurri Kurri chanteuse, 35, took up tennis in her video after appearing on The Block TV show.

Kirsty reached back to her Tamworth stage debut at the age of three in previous video Wild One - also on her Wild album.

The Wild One video chronicles Kirsty's journey from little girl to country star - family footage from decades of events provides rare insight into Kirsty's journey to the top.

"This music video is the most special one I have ever created. It features over 30 years of footage of me, chasing a dream that I have had since I began to talk,” Kirsty revealed.

“I live and breathe country music. I actually get a little choked up watching this and seeing how far I have come and how I have never given up on achieving what I set out to do as a young girl."

Written and recorded in 2020-21 lockdown her album echoes sentiments experienced by many.

From imagining overseas adventures long since cancelled, to freedoms previously taken for granted before COVID-19, and love that kept many homes together.

George, Waylon, Merle and Willie Nelson were among country historian Barbara Dowling's favourite Texans.

The Waylon, Highwaymen , Merle and George discs were donated by Barbara who died at 77 in December, 2020.

She co-hosted Long In The Saddle in our Nu Country FM era and was pioneer Australian and Victorian country music awards judge.

Barbara was admired for rising above losing her sight as a young woman and her country passion with annual trips to Waylon's birthplace in Littlefield, West Texas.

Waylon died at 64 on February 13, 2002, and is survived by singing spouse Jessi, now 80, and son Shooter, 44.
